TV Priest, the London post-punk band, have released the single “The Mud Never Dries” on June 19, 2026, alongside a video. The track is the group’s first new music in four years, following their second album “My Other People” in 2022. “The Mud Never Dries” is out on streaming services, with the video on the band’s YouTube channel.

The single opens on a fast bassline and moves through shifting electronic and post-punk textures. Vocalist Charlie Drinkwater frames the song around the idea of history as sediment and the weight of the personal and political past. “From womb to tomb to eternity” runs one line of the lyrics.
Drinkwater described the track in detail. “‘The Mud Never Dries’ is the most abrasive thing we’ve made, a collision of drum and bass, post-punk, electronic data samples and spoken word that doesn’t settle into any one shape. We wrote it thinking about history as sediment. The way the past doesn’t really leave us. It settles, layer on layer, until we’re walking on ground we don’t recognise but somehow keep retracing. My own history, our shared political one, the same loop, the same refusal to look down or look back. The title felt honest in that way. Nothing dries. Nothing finishes. We keep stepping in it.”
He also described the video, which he made with collaborator Charles Gall. “‘The Mud Never Dries’ is about the moment the mask of history slips and we ask ourselves if we’re just doomed to repeat it. We wanted the video to reflect that; it needed to feel free but watched, paranoid, intense, and most importantly unashamed. Shot over an afternoon with my close collaborator Charles Gall it shows me left alone in a dead office space, suit on and shoes off, finally giving in to something animal and letting a performance pour out of me. A body remembering it was never really tame.”

About TV Priest
TV Priest formed in London in 2019 around four childhood friends: Charlie Drinkwater on vocals, Alex Sprogis on guitar, Nic Bueth on bass, keyboards and production, and Ed Kelland on drums. The band signed to Sub Pop after playing only one gig, held in an industrial freezer in November 2019, with further concerts cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their debut album “Uppers” arrived on February 5, 2021 through Sub Pop, produced by Nic Bueth and recorded in East London. The second album “My Other People” followed on June 17, 2022, also on Sub Pop. The band toured both records, including their first North American shows in support of “My Other People” in 2022.
“The Mud Never Dries”, released June 19, 2026, is the band’s first new single since that album cycle and their first new music in four years.
