Dawn Of Ashes, the Los Angeles-originated dark electronic and extreme industrial band, have released the collaborative single “Penumbra” with Belgian electro-industrial act Suicide Commando. The digital single “Penumbra” is today, 23rd January 2026 via Metropolis Records and will appear on the forthcoming Dawn Of Ashes album “Anatomy Of Suffering”, due on 20th March 2026 on CD, vinyl and digital formats.

“Penumbra” is issued as a one-track digital single, running just over five minutes, and is available as a standalone download and stream.

Kristof Bathory describes the track as a deliberate return to the sound and atmosphere of early 2000s dark electro-industrial while keeping the project’s current intensity intact. He adds that “‘Penumbra’ channels the raw intensity and atmosphere of early ‘00s dark electro-industrial music, evoking a powerful sense of nostalgia while remaining uncompromising in its aggression. This single sets the tone for what lies ahead and serves as a fitting prelude for the destruction yet to come.”

The single is the first song made public from “Anatomy Of Suffering”, which follows the 2025 album “Infecting The Scars“. “Infecting The Scars” was released on 6th June 2025 by Metropolis Records on CD and digital platforms. The album sa the project reconnect with its early aggrotech roots while retaining blackened metal and industrial influences.

Lyrically and thematically, “Penumbra” continues the project’s long-running focus on bodily horror, psychological trauma and occult imagery, themes that also framed “Infecting The Scars” and its subsequent remix release “Reinfecting The Scars”.

An official video for the track is available on YouTube.

About Dawn Of Ashes

Dawn Of Ashes originated in Los Angeles, USA, in the early 2000s as a dark electronic and aggrotech project built around founder and vocalist Kristof Bathory. Over time the project evolved into a hybrid of industrial, black metal and extreme electronic music, with a visual and conceptual focus on body horror, occult symbolism and cinematic violence.

Early in their career, Dawn Of Ashes worked with German label NoiTekk, supported by distribution deals through COP International and the Russian label Gravitator. The project’s first wave of releases included “Sacred Fever” (2005) and the debut full-length “In The Acts Of Violence” (2006), followed by “The Crypt Injection” (2007). Subsequent albums such as “Genocide Chapters” (2010) and “Anathema” (2013) showed a shift into blackened metal and symphonic elements while retaining the electronic base.

In the mid-2010s the band produced “Theophany” (2016), released via Metropolis Records, followed by the occult-themed “Daemonolatry Gnosis” (2017). The band then revisited their early catalogue with “The Crypt Injection II / Non Serviam” (2017). The 2010s closed with the album “The Antinomian” (2020) on Artoffact Records.

In 2022, the industrial metal-leaning “Scars Of The Broken” appeared, including singles such as “Heart Wrapped In Suicide” and “Anhedonia“. It was followed by a 2024 remix and companion album “Reopening The Scars.”

In 2025, Dawn Of Ashes formally returned to Metropolis Records, and issued “Infecting The Scars” as their next full-length, followed later that year by the remix release “Reinfecting The Scars“.

Kristof Bathory has also developed parallel work in dark ambient and cinematic sound design, including the solo albums “Humanoid Dystopia” and “Black Hole Expedition“, plus the collaborative project Void Stasis with the album “Eschaton“. All three albums were released on Cryo Chamber.

As of the “Penumbra” release and the upcoming “Anatomy Of Suffering” album, Dawn Of Ashes operate with Kristof Bathory as central songwriter and vocalist, alongside a live and studio line-up that has in recent years included musicians such as Bahemoth (keyboards/electronics), Krz Souls (electronic drums), Angel Nightmare (guitars/keyboards) and Krock (drums).
