French experimental label Camembert Électrique has released Low Pressure Systems, a various-artists compilation available as a digital release on Bandcamp. The release follows the label’s earlier compilation “Monolithic Blocks” and continues a focus on bass-driven, repetitive and immersive sound.

Camembert Électrique describes the compilation as exploring “slow, dense and immersive sonic forms at the intersection of experimental music, ambient and bass-driven sound”, adding that bass “often plays a central role, not as a dominant element, but as a gravitational force shaping the overall structure and giving sound its physical weight.” The label states that tracks on “Low Pressure Systems” move in different directions, from stretched, suspended textures to pieces with clearer pulses or more rhythmic elements, and from opaque, granular passages to brighter zones, held together by a shared attention to immersion and depth rather than a single genre approach.

“Low Pressure Systems” follows Monolithic Blocks, an earlier Camembert Électrique compilation built around experimental noise, harsh noise and harsh noise wall pieces. The label’s own list of contributors to “Low Pressure Systems” names more than 120 acts and is described as partial given the size of the project. Contributors include ANTEPOP, who has previously released on Camembert Électrique, and francisco lópez, alongside a wide range of smaller experimental, drone and noise acts. The full artist list is available on the release’s Bandcamp page.

About Camembert Électrique

Camembert Électrique is an independent label for experimental music and hybrid sonic forms. It was founded in 1991 under the name No Records, initially releasing punk, hardcore and extreme music, before its focus gradually shifted toward experimental sound. In 2002, No Records was renamed Camembert Électrique, in homage to the 1970s psychedelic album of the same name by the band Gong. Based in Pleuville, France, the label now operates as a curatorial platform for compilations, artist albums and conceptual projects, run independently and on a non-profit basis. “Low Pressure Systems” extends that compilation series, following “Monolithic Blocks” with a new collective exploration of slow, bass-driven and immersive sound.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
