Background/Info: “Symbiosis” is the second album of Brien Hindman which has been released five years after the debut work “Cognitive Buffer Hypothesis” (2018). For “Symbiosis” he collaborated with multiple guest artists like iVardensphere, Imminent, [law-rah] , Eva|3, Meredith Yayanos and Tim Kniep.
Content: The work is diversified and that’s clearly because of the different guest artists injecting their own touch and influences to the work. From IDM to pure Experimental music and from Industrial & Tribal to deeply Ambient Electronics -even reminding me of Tangerine Dream, there’s a lot of experience here.
+ + + : I’m always a bit skeptical when artists are inviting an important list of contributors. But I have to admit it works well at this opus and especially the track composed together with Imminent and iVardensphere is simply brilliant; an absolute masterpiece. I also recommend the totally different and Tangerine Dream-like “Cognitions”.
– – – : Some passages are hardly accessible for their explicit Experimental content which sounds as a bit like an antithesis to some of the other cuts.
Conclusion: Diversified Electronic work which will mainly catch the attention of Ambient and Industrial lovers.
Best songs: “Vestigial Structures”, “Cognitions”, “Cladogenesis”.
