Swedish post-punk act AVFALL will release their new single “Biologismus Fatale” on June 13. The track serves as the second preview from their forthcoming album “Weltschmerz” and marks the first song written by founding members Daniel and Joel after a long creative hiatus. The material will be released via the Swedish label Novoton.
Described by the band as “energetic post-punk, about wading in a really bad gene pool,” the song signals the restart of AVFALL’s collaboration following a period of musical dormancy that began after their 2017 cassette release “Mental Preparation”. That earlier release was the result of a strict weekly songwriting experiment carried out in 2016.
After nearly seven years of silence, the duo reunited in 2024 with a reversed philosophy: no rules, no deadlines, and complete creative freedom. The resulting sound marks a shift from their original industrial post-punk approach toward what the band now calls “psychedelic dark-rock.”
The new material reflects this transformation. AVFALL positions itself as “the garbage of society” and “a romantic shake-up in a post-postmodern apocalypse.” In their own words, “AVFALL has the potential to save you and mislead you.”
About AVFALL
Formed in Sweden by Daniel and Joel, AVFALL began as a musical experiment grounded in minimalism and urgency. Their debut project, “Mental Preparation”, released in 2017, featured songs composed and recorded in a single evening each week and issued on cassette without edits or retakes.
Following years of inactivity, the duo reformed in 2024 with a renewed focus on atmospheric songwriting and unrestricted creativity. Their upcoming album “Weltschmerz” represents this evolution into darker, more psychedelic sonic territory.
