Dean Garcia (Curve) signs The Black Holes / SPC ECO / Morpheme to XD RecordsPosted on 08/07/11
We got a tip via Neferast on Twitter saying that XD Records had just signed a few projects by Curve's Dean Garcia. We checked around and saw that he signed up 3 projects. First is The Black Holes, a project he runs with Joanna Neale. The second is SPC ECO (pronounced Space Echo) Garcia's shoegazing band, formed in 2007 with with his daughter Rose Berlin (vocals) and Joey Levenson (guitar). Garcia is also working on Morpheme, another signee of the label so we noticed while checking the Curve Facebook page.
While SPC ECO will release a limited edition 7inch vinyl in Autumn 2011, The Black Holes work on their label debut which should be out by Winter 2011. They produced a collection of what they call 'melancholic songs of love, loss, life and death surrounded by haunting melodies and dark foreboding atmospheres'. The music is described as being moody, sultry, downbeat, sleazy and dark.
For those interested, on the band's Bandcamp page you can get the album "Stone cold baby" which was recorded and mixed by Dean Garcia at the E-LAB Studio in London 2008.
You can listen to tracks of both The Black Holes and SPC ECO after the jump.
