Norwegian alternative rock band Seigmen just released “Så nært”, the third and final single leading up to their upcoming studio album “Dissonans”, which is due out on October 23. The new track arrives after the singles “Dyret 23 Bud” in 2024 and “Disiplin” in May 2025, marking the last preview before the full album.

While Seigmen are best known for their rather grand, melancholic sound, “Så nært” comes as an unexpected ballad. The song emerged during rehearsal when guitarist Sverre Økshoff accidentally missed the input jack of his Gibson SG. The buzzing tone sparked a rhythmic idea that developed into the song’s foundation.

Songwriter Kim Ljung commented: “For me, music is like a jigsaw puzzle. All the pieces are there, somewhere in the air — you just have to pull them down in the right order. I’m not saying it’s easy, but that’s how it works. Don’t stress — if it’s meant to be, everything will eventually fall into place.”

“Så nært” was mixed by Mike Hartung at Propeller Music Division, recorded by Christer Krogh at Velvet Recording, produced by Møklebust and Ljung, and mastered by George Tanderø.

“Dissonans” is scheduled for release on October 23, 2025 – exactly 30 years after Seigmen’s breakthrough album “Metropolis”. The album follows 2024’s “Resonans” and is the second part of a trilogy.

About Seigmen

Seigmen was formed in Tønsberg, Norway, in 1989 under the name Klisne Seigmenn. Their early performances already stood out, with Tønsbergs Blad noting that the band “outperformed the others.”

In 1994 they released the EP “Hjernen er alene” and the album “Total”, which became a cornerstone of Norwegian rock and was later ranked among the country’s top 100 albums. Their 1995 album “Metropolis” dominated national charts and won the Spellemann Award for Best Rock Album. In 1997, “Radiowaves” debuted at number one.

The band disbanded in 1999 following Økshoff’s departure, playing a farewell show at Rockefeller in Oslo. They reunited in 2005 for a performance at Dødens Dal in Trondheim and later became the first Norwegian act to play at the Oslo Opera House in 2008, an excellent show the entire Side-Line team attended.

In 2015, Seigmen returned with “Enola,” their first album in 18 years. On April 12, 2024, they released “Resonans”, recorded at Velvet Recording – the same studio where “Total” had been tracked in 1994.

The lineup of the band:

  • Alex Møklebust – vocals
  • Kim Ljung – bass, vocals
  • Noralf Ronthi – drums
  • Marius Roth – guitar, vocals
  • Sverre Økshoff – guitar
