Rotersand release single ‘Private Firmament’ ahead of new album

Rotersand
German dark electro-pop duo Rotersand have released a new single, “Private Firmament (I Fell For You)”, out now via Metropolis Records (North America) and Trisol (rest of world). The track is the first to be unveiled from their upcoming full-length album “Don’t Become the Thing You Hated”, set for release on August 8, 2025. The album will hold 14 tracks, with 2 of them (“It Was Night” and “Train”) only available on CD.
Speaking about the track, the band says: “Human nature is not binary, but algorhythm induced communication forces us to choose virtual sides to stimulate emotions and click rates. Yes or no, black or white, for or against, one or the other. Ultimately, we sit in our post-fact, post-science, post-truth private firmaments with nothing in common other than the cold light of screens pretending to shine for us. We say, leave the private firmaments and dance with us, with real faces under real stars.”
About Rotersand
Rotersand was formed in 2002 in Hamburg, Germany, by Rascal Nikov and Krischan Jan-Eric Wesenberg. The duo emerged from the dark electronic and futurepop scenes. Dependent Records released their debut album “Truth Is Fanatic” in 2003, followed by a series of full-lengths including “Welcome to Goodbye” (2005), “1023” (2007), and “Random Is Resistance” (2009).
After a hiatus, they returned in 2016 with “Capitalism TM”, followed by “How Do You Feel Today?” in March 2020. “Don’t Become the Thing You Hated” is their sixth studio album and marks their return after a five-year gap.

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
