Marie Ann Hedonia drops new video with Black Kite: ‘Eve Had the Metallic Shine of Summer’

Marie Ann Hedonia
Baltimore-based dark-electro artist Marie Ann Hedonia has released a new music video for her track “Eve Had the Metallic Shine of Summer”, a piece inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s 1966 film “Persona”. The video is now available to stream. The track is taken from Hedonia’s forthcoming album “Eclipse”, due later this year on the Paul and Marie’s Country Kitchen label.
Shot guerrilla-style in a single day across various Baltimore city and county locations, the video explores the emotional erosion caused by toxic, codependent relationships. The video was directed by Alex Shaak during an unexpected thunderstorm: “The energy of the thunderstorm very much translates the powerful ending of the video.”
The song features vocals and lyrics by Black Kite (Vicki Lynn Tippit), who says this on the meaning behind the track: “This song is about the potency and allure of destructive, codependent relationships and how they require us to self-abandon. It speaks to both addiction and toxic relationships that masquerade as love or comfort, but are actually antithetical to both.”

About Marie Ann Hedonia
Marie Ann Hedonia is a Baltimore, Maryland-based synthesist and composer working across techno, synth pop, dark ambient, jazz, and related genres. She is the co-founder of the label Paul and Marie’s Country Kitchen, alongside her husband Paul M’Olive.
Her musical journey began in her childhood with piano lessons but shifted dramatically after discovering synthesis. “I remember trying to change the sound of my digital upright piano as a kid. What I didn’t know, though, was that I was playing the wrong instrument for that application. What I really needed was a synth.”
This realization led her to a microKORG and later to more advanced tools like the Moog Sub Phatty, Prophet ’08, and eventually Eurorack modular systems. The Plonk module by Intellijel was a turning point in her sound design development, helping form what she calls “a hard, weird, industrial sound.”
Hedonia’s discography includes her 2021 debut “The Inevitable Collapse” and “Kenopsia”, a collaboration with audiovisual artist Grant Bouvier. Her 2022 release “Marie Ann Hedonia Presents Marie Ann Hedonia” was followed by 2023’s “Temporal Dysmorphia”.
Her upcoming album “Eclipse” is scheduled for release later in 2025 featuring guest contributions from Delia Liederschuh, Casey Desmond (known from The Voice), and Black Kite.
