Knox Chandler, known for his work with The Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Cyndi Lauper, has released his debut solo album, “The Sound”, today via his own label, Blue Elastic.

Available digitally and via streaming platforms, “The Sound” is also paired with an accompanying visual art book. The album showcases Chandler’s distinctive “Soundribbon” technique — a meditative, cinematic style of instrumental guitar work — supported by upright bass and percussion.

The accompanying book includes paintings, sketches, photographs, and written reflections. Together, the audio and visual elements are designed as a “musical/visual memoir” reflecting what Chandler describes as “interpreting nature through technology.”

About Knox Chandler

Knox Chandler began his music career in the late 1970s. Based in New York, he became a core member of The Psychedelic Furs and performed with Siouxsie and the Banshees, Cyndi Lauper, and The Creatures.

Over the years, he recorded and toured with a range of artists, including Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan, Natalie Merchant, Grace Jones, and Marianne Faithfull. His solo work focuses on ambient, instrumental explorations under the concept of “Soundribbons.” Chandler also taught at BIMM in Berlin before returning to Connecticut to be closer to family.

“The Sound” marks his first solo release under his new imprint, Blue Elastic.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
