Fictional reissues 2003 album ‘Fiction’ on Repo Records following release of ‘Some Great Constructions’

Repo Records reissues Fictional’s 2003 album “Fiction”
Repo Records has made Fictional’s second album “Fiction” available again on digiCD to mark the 17 October 2025 release of the group’s third album “Some Great Constructions.” The set returns as a digipak CD with the bonus track “Angels”.
“Fiction” is Fictional’s second album. It first came out in July 2003 on Repo Records in Europe and via Metropolis Records in North America. The standard format is a digi-CD; some pressings also include the bonus track “Angels.”
The record sits squarely in early-2000s synth-pop/futurepop with EBM edges: bright, melodic leads over club-ready beats, plus darker mid-tempo pieces. It’s fronted by vocalist Jason Bainbridge, with songwriting/production led by Gerrit Thomas. The lyric were by Kai Schmidt. If you know Funker Vogt’s precision electronics, expect a more melodic, song-driven take here.
About Fictional
Fictional is a German electro/synth-pop project led by Gerrit Thomas (Funker Vogt, Ravenous). The project emerged in the late 1990s in Lower Saxony, Germany, as an outlet parallel to Thomas’s roles in Funker Vogt and Ravenous, with lyrics by Kai Schmidt.
The debut album “Fictitious” appeared on Zoth Ommog in 1999; after Zoth Ommog closed, Metropolis issued “Fictitious [+]” in 2001 with two live bonus tracks. Vocals on the debut were primarily by Thomas, with guest performances by Tim Fockenbrock (Ravenous).
Fictional’s second album “Fiction” followed in July 2003 (Repo Records in Europe; Metropolis in North America), introducing Scottish vocalist Jason Bainbridge on recordings while Thomas continued production and composition duties. The album blends EBM and synth-pop elements and includes tracks such as “The Weatherman,” “IntenCity” and “When The World Is Dying.”
After two decades without a full-length, Fictional returned in 2025. New singles preceded the third album “Some Great Constructions,” released on 17 October 2025 by Repo Records. Guest vocalist Christian Schottstädt contributed on singles including “Your Whisper” and “Nightfall.”

Strip out the promo nonsense, verify what’s actually real, and decide which stories make the cut and which get tossed into the digital void. Outside the news filter bubble, I’m all in for quality sushi and helping raise funds for Ukraine’s ongoing fight against the modern-day axis of evil.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
