Felsmann + Tiley sign to Mute and release new track ‘Warum’

Felsmann + Tiley
German synthesizer duo Felsmann + Tiley have announced their signing to Mute. Out today is a new track titled “Warum”. The cinematic and atmospheric composition marks their debut release with the label.
The track is inspired by the existential question of “Why?” (‘Warum’ in German). “Asking why is the motor that drove us to where we got to as a species. At the same time, not asking why often enough or asking the wrong questions seems to be pushing us to the brink of self-extinction. It’s absurd. And it’s beautiful.”
About Felsmann + Tiley
Felsmann + Tiley are two producers from Stuttgart, Germany, who met in 2003 on a music production forum, initially gained recognition for club-driven releases under aliases such as Kamui. Following a creative hiatus, they reformed in 2017, shifting their focus toward neo-classical and ambient electronic works that exclude drums and percussion altogether. This shift was first formalized with their 2018 debut album “Tempora”, which reinterprets Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and includes the track “October”, featured on Andrew Weatherall’s final NTS Radio broadcast.
Their follow-up EP “Weltschmerz” was released during the COVID-19 lockdowns. In 2022, the “Retrovision” EP continued this trajectory, offering film-score inspired compositions. Their track “Arrival” was featured by Deutsche Grammophon.
The duo’s work has also seen commercial placements in TV shows including Netflix’s “Young Royals” (Season 2), Amazon’s “The Better Sister”, and the BAFTA-winning “Top Boy” (Season 3).

Strip out the promo nonsense, verify what’s actually real, and decide which stories make the cut and which get tossed into the digital void. Outside the news filter bubble, I’m all in for quality sushi and helping raise funds for Ukraine’s ongoing fight against the modern-day axis of evil.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
