Chaos Tamed – Elbrus (Digital/CD Album – I/O Music)
This is the second album from the Swedish solo project Chaos Tamed. Driven by Magnus Kalnins, known from Colony 5, the music presented here is a complete departure from what we’ve come to expect from that band.
The album showcases an intelligent approach to electronic music, blending elements of IDM, EBM, and a touch of dark electro. Everything sounds carefully crafted, with great attention to detail. The style is somewhat ethereal, yet at times dark and even ominous. The ghostly vocals complement the soundscape perfectly.
Chaos Tamed occasionally evokes a cross between Neuroactive and Haujobb, which says a lot about the project’s quality and potential. I’m genuinely impressed by this new opus. (Rating:8).
