The Smiths Johnny Marr
The Modest Mouse Album "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank" featuring Johnny Marr as songwriter and guitar player has entered this weeks American Billboard Chart at Number 1. The news was announced by the official Johnny Marr website. The Modest Mouse album also tops the iTunes Download Chart and the Amazon Chart. For Johnny Marr this is the first time he has had a number one record in the U.S. The highest chart position before that one was with Electronic who went Top 40 in the singles chart with "Getting Away With It". Speaking exclusively to jmarr.com Johnny Marr says :

"It's great news, I knew we had written some really good songs and when we started recording I felt it was going to be a great record. I really am enjoying playing the live shows. The songs have been going down so well even though people haven't heard them before. We're all very happy and looking forward to touring the world."

The Johnny Marr MySpace currently has 28 shows announced with Modest Mouse with more dates being in the pipeline including gigs in Europe. Johnny Marr's most recent solo output was 2003's "Boomslang" under the Johnny Marr + the Healers flag. Marr is expected to deliver a new solo album later this year, but no news has been confirmed so far. More news as we get it.
