Years Of Denial – Love Cuts (Digital/Vinyl EP – VEYL)

Founded in 2016 and driven by French musician Jérôme Tcherneyan and Czech performance artist, musician, and poet Barkosina Hanusova, Years Of Denial return with an EP that feels more like a mini-album, offering six compelling tracks.
The title gives a clear indication of its inspiration — love in its most diverse, and therefore also its strangest and most perverse, forms. This concept is translated into equally diverse music. Moving from darker shades of Cold-Wave to more aggressive EBM basslines and pounding beats, the duo delivers a sound that is both distinctive and sharply polished. Each track is a full experience — a feast for the ears. Danceable rhythms and melodic synths spark curiosity, while the propulsive beats invite to dance. Atmosphere plays as vital a role as the dancefloor energy. The music is complemented by detached, emotionless vocal deliveries that perfectly align with the palpable 80s influence.
For those not yet familiar with Years Of Denial, this release serves as the perfect introduction — and, in my opinion, stands as one of the highlights of the year. (Rating:9).

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
