Stoneburner – C4 Amore (Digital EP – COP International)
This new EP from Stoneburner is a preview for the recently released new album “Post. Industrial. Occult.” Steven Archer seems to have distanced himself from Ego Likeness for some time now and is focusing on Stoneburner, which has released a considerable collection of albums and EPs. Assisted by producer Mark Alan Miller (who we still know from Out Out), we get to discover four tracks here.
This EP primarily showcases the evolution in sounds and influences this project has undergone since its first release in 2014. It retains an Industrial sound to some extent, but it’s less Tribal-oriented and now delves more into a certain Cinematic genre. The arrangements remain quite bombastic and are overflowing with overwhelming atmospheres. Guitar and synths blend into a subtle whole, occasionally finished off with delicate piano arrangements. The whole thing is then supplemented with vocals sung with numerous effects.
Stoneburner continues to reinvent itself, and despite the fact that I remain a fan of the Tribal piece from the past, this EP sounds like a solid appetizer for the new opus. (Rating:7½).
