Barcelona post-punk and darkwave trio Low Blows have released the digital single “Vacío” as the lead track from their forthcoming self-titled second album “Low Blows,” accompanied by a new music video directed by Marta Szewczyk.

The single marks the band’s first new material since the 2024 track “Go!” and offers a sound that mixes post-punk, darkwave, industrial and new wave elements with Spanish-language lyrics.

The video for “Vacío” was directed by filmmaker Marta Szewczyk.

“Low Blows” follows the band’s debut album “Cruel” which was released in 2020. The new album was recorded during 2024 and 2025 between the band members’ homes, their rehearsal space and Estudi Nautilus in Barcelona. It is produced by Matteo Vallicelli (known for his work with The Soft Moon), mixed by Lluis Cots at Estudi Nautilus and mastered by Maurizio Baggio at La Distilleria.

The band explains that the record was inspired by “the path we’ve walked both as individuals and as a band” and by emotions emerging “in contrast to the existential void and decay of western culture.”

About Low Blows

Low Blows is a post-punk and darkwave project based in Barcelona, Spain, led by Chilean musician Carlos Vergara. The project began in the mid-2010s as Vergara’s solo outlet while he was living in Ibiza, after his earlier work with Chilean bands Federación de Boxeo and This Co.

Under the name Low Blows he released two EPs, “Holes to fill” (2016) and “Flesh” (2017), both through Manchester label Sister 9 Recordings, built around programmed electronics and guitars. As activity shifted to Barcelona, the project evolved into a full live band including drummer Rubén Carballo (Trip City), keyboardist Marcel Molina (Odio París) and guitarist Andrés Silgado (Venus Fly Trap), with Vergara on bass and vocals.

From 2019 onwards, the group issued a run of singles such as “Stranger,” “Low Blows” and “Skin,” which led into the band’s debut album “Cruel,” released in April 2020 on Barcelona label Siete señoritas gritando.

Subsequent digital releases on Bandcamp followed including the standalone track “Ficción” in 2021, followed by “Hate,” “Misleading Blind” and “I Hate” in 2023. In 2024 Low Blows released the singles “Normal” and “Go!”.

The 2026 self-titled album “Low Blows” brings these strands together, collecting updated album mixes of “I Hate,” “Misleading Blind” and “Go!” alongside new material such as “Vacío” and “Cracks.” The album was produced by by Matteo Vallicelli and mastered by Maurizio Baggio.
