Ignis Absconditus announce new album ‘Transfigurations’ on Obscurus Records

Ignis Absconditus
Italian duo Ignis Absconditus will release their new album “Transfigurations” on 21 December via Obscurus Records, with the record available exclusively as a digital album on the bandâs official Bandcamp page. Recorded at Camera Ardente IV in spring 2025, the release offers the groupâs trademark blend of experimental rock, neofolk, dark rock and art-rock.
“Transfigurations” is presented as a ten-track work that pushes the duoâs aesthetic further into dissonant layers, hypnotic percussion and a strongly narrative vocal approach. The band says that it represents their “most mature and radical artistic expression to date,” combining elements reminiscent of Bauhaus, Voivod and dissonant black metal with vocal inspirations from Nico and Diamanda GalĂĄs. Note that track nine, “ParĂČ,” is dedicated to the memory of Massa-based artist Pier Paolo Parolini.
The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Wanderer at Camera Ardente IV.
About Ignis Absconditus
Ignis Absconditus is a duo from Massa, Italy, formed in 2018 by vocalist-lyricist Noctuaria and guitarist, bassist and drummer Wanderer. Both musicians had already been active in Italyâs underground extreme and avant-garde scenes through projects such as Nebrus and Nott, before creating Ignis Absconditus to explore a more experimental rock language that draws on neofolk, dark rock, post-punk and doom influences.
The groupâs first release, “Lost Equilibrium,” appeared in 2020 as a seven-track MiniCD on Obscvrvs Records, built around acoustic guitar, unconventional percussion and Noctuariaâs low-register vocals. A remixed digital edition, “Lost Equilibrium (Remix 2022),” followed in February 2022.
In June 2022 the duo released their first full-length album “Portrait of Beyond,” recorded at Camera Ardente in 2021 and issued digitally via Bandcamp and Obscvrvs Records.
The second full-length “Golden Horses of a Dying Future” was released on 2 February 2024 through Italian label My Kingdom Music on digipak CD and digital formats. Also in 2024 Ignis Absconditus added the digital live release “Live at Camera Ardente” to their Bandcamp, followed in February 2025 by the 7-inch single “Tomba dellâAmore / AffinitĂ ” on Obscvrvs Records. These songs were originally composed before the bandâs official formation but only released at that time, functioning as a stylistic detour from the groupâs main experimental rock trajectory.
And now the band announces “Transfigurations”.
