Wim Mertens signs with EMI and set to release entire back-cataloguePosted on 04/09/07
The belgian minimal music composer Wim Mertens has signed a contract with EMI Classics for his entire catalog. And in the good old EMI tradition, the label has prepared an ambitious re-release plan of his back-catalog which will start in January 2008. His "oeuvre intégrale" will be made available digitally and worldwide. But first EMI Music Belgium will release Mertens' newest (51st) 9-track album "Receptacle" on September 24th. Interesting detail, for this album Mertens decided to work with an orchestra consisting of only women, 17 in total. It's not the first time that Mertens works together with EMI. Already in 1999 Mertens released the soundtrack to the Paul Cox film "Father Damian" via EMI Classics.
