The Ottawa/Athens-based psychedelic shoegaze project The Pink Elephants has released the digital album “Mothers Of The Sun” via Bandcamp. The set features guest guitarist Isaiah Mitchell (Earthless) and vocalist Cristin Heck (Elsinore, Vancouver).

The album is available as a name-your-price digital download on Bandcamp counting 8 tracks, 2 more than on other platforms.

Recording took place at Nova Tide Studio (Ottawa) between September 2024 and March 2025, with additional work at Isaiah Mitchell’s studio in California (February/March 2025). Rena Kozak mixed four tracks at St Zo Studios (MontrĂ©al). Vocals for “Mother Sun Rises” were recorded in Vancouver in September 2025.

Peter McNestry adds: “This particular release was extra special since I collaborated with Isaiah Mitchell from Earthless on three tracks. I also collaborated with Cristin Heck from Vancouver; she provided vocals on the track ‘Mother Sun Rises’.”

Since you’re here

we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
