Protokoll 19 – Somewhere Between Purgatory And Hell (Digital/CD Album – Danse Macabre Records)
A year after their highly acclaimed debut album “Mental Decay”, the American duo Protokoll 19 returns with a new opus, delivering seven tracks alongside five remixes.
The group remains faithful to their extreme, Dark-Electro style, marked by raw and distorted vocals. The result is nothing short of sonic hell, and it’s no surprise that comparisons once again arise with the master himself, Suicide Commando. The icy production, sharpened by cold, finely woven strings, combined with the bombastic force of Industrial kicks, is sure to drive fans of the genre into ecstasy. The remixes are enjoyable, though they don’t necessarily add significant value to the release.
Protokoll 19 may not be breaking new ground here, but they firmly establish themselves as a highly talented disciple in the Dark-Electro school. (Rating:8).
