Falling You release ambient/ethereal album 'Metanoia'
San Francisco Bay Area ambient/ethereal project Falling You have released the album “Metanoia” as a self-released digital album. John Michael Zorko composed and produced the record and worked together with several collaborators across the 11-track release.
We find Dru Allen on âAlcyone,â Courtney Grace on âFlesh To Treeâ and âAriadne,â Slim Heilpern on harmonica for âAriâs Song,â Amelia Hogan on âConstellations,â Anji Lum and Ryan Lum on âPhilomena,â Erica Mulkey on vocals and cello for âThey Give Me Flowers,â Colleen Segale on âThrow the Stone,â Shikhee on modular synths for âThey Give Me Flowers,â and Jennifer Wilde on âDemiurge (Momento Eorum)â and âA Thread Of Happiness.â
Thematically “Metanoia” handles transformation and adversity. Zorko says this: âMetanoia means âchange of mindâ or âchange of heartâ in Greek â transformation born from adversity. Many of the songs pull from Ovidâs Metamorphoses, which is full of people literally changing form, often against their will. Thinking about everything the world has been through these last several years, and how weâve all had to adapt to circumstances we never chose, the theme just clicked. Growth implies weâre steering the ship, but sometimes change is thrust upon us, and thatâs what this record explores.â
Musically advised to fans of This Mortal Coil, Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins or Slowdive.
About Falling You
Falling You is an American ambient/electronic project based in San Francisco, California, led by composer and musician John Michael Zorko. The project was founded by Zorko with then-partner Jennifer McPeak as lyricist and vocalist. The debut album “Mercy” was released in 1998. The project later on turned to collaborations with a rotating roster of vocalists across subsequent albums.
Subsequent albums include “Mercy” (1998), “Touch” (2005), “Human” (2006), “Faith” (2008), “Adore” (2011), and “Blush” (2013). In 2017, Projekt Records released the Falling You album “Shine” on Bandcamp, with contributions by Dru Allen, Courtney Grace, Anji Lum, and others. Projekt Records also released the compilation “Charms (best of 98-13)” in 2017.
And now there is the album “Metanoia”.

Strip out the promo nonsense, verify whatâs actually real, and decide which stories make the cut and which get tossed into the digital void. Outside the news filter bubble, Iâm all in for quality sushi and helping raise funds for Ukraineâs ongoing fight against the modern-day axis of evil.
