The legendary Manchester post-punk band Chameleons will embark on their “Arctic Moon” European tour from October 29 to December 6, 2025, marking the live debut of songs from their first full-length studio album in 24 years which was released in mid-September via Metropolis Records.
The “Arctic Moon” album features seven tracks, including the current single “Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing”, a re-recorded version of “Where Are You?”, and “David Bowie Takes My Hand.”
“While we’re proud of the band’s legacy, we really wanted to forge something fresh while retaining that profound and imaginative quality we’re known for,” explains frontman Mark Burgess. “We think that we have managed to do that and deliver a very strong record.”
The album is available on LP, CD, and digital formats.

About Chameleons
Chameleons (originally The Chameleons) formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester, in 1981, with Mark Burgess (vocals, bass), Reg Smithies (guitar), Dave Fielding (guitar), and John Lever (drums). Emerging during the post-punk era, the band became renowned for their atmospheric, guitar-driven sound and introspective lyrics.
Their 1983 debut “Script of the Bridge” established them as one of the UK’s most influential guitar bands, followed by “What Does Anything Mean? Basically!” (1984), “Strange Times” (1986), and “Why Call It Anything?” (2001).
After disbanding in 1987, they reformed for several periods, including a renewed creative surge beginning in 2024 with the EPs “Where Are You?” and “Tomorrow Remember Yesterday.” These releases paved the way for “Arctic Moon”.
The current lineup includes Mark Burgess (vocals, bass), Reg Smithies (guitar), Stephen Rice (guitar), Danny Ashberry (keyboards), and Todd Demma (drums).

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
