Angelspit – Red End (Digital/CD Album – Black Pill Red Pill)

With “Red End”, Zoog Von Rock presents his twelfth album under the moniker Angelspit. The Australian artist has been cultivating his sonic alter ego for nearly two decades and has once again surrounded himself with several guest musicians to bring this new work to life.
Angelspit remains a project with a distinctly recognizable sound. While it has long carried the Cyber-Punk label, this description no longer fully captures the breadth of its influences. Overall, the music seems somewhat ‘calmer’ than in earlier releases, yet it is enriched with psychedelic flourishes and even touches of rap-inspired vocal delivery. The result is a kind of freestyle experiment in which Zoog Von Rock continues to make no compromises. The sound remains Electronic, idiosyncratic, and unmistakably original.
The songs move at a slower pace, and the vocals—more controlled and deliberate than in the past—reveal the project’s evolution. At moments, the music takes on a Cinematic quality, while longtime fans will still find a few of the heavier tracks that defined Angelspit’s earlier work.
While Red End may lack an obvious hit single, it compensates with an array of compelling and standout tracks that highlight Zoog Von Rock’s creative persistence and refusal to conform. (Rating:7).

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
The donations are safely powered by Paypal.
