Details on And Also The Trees album “The Devil’s Door”
Lyrically and musically, the album is as a set of soundtrack-like pieces, drawing inspiration from newsreel footage, oil paintings and strands of British and European folklore. Alongside the band’s orchestral guitar work and dark, jazz-inflected rhythms, the record introduces new colours, including guest violin from Belgian composer and performer Catherine Graindorge, whose own catalogue includes collaborations in contemporary experimental and rock.
With “The Devil’s Door”, And Also The Trees the devil’s door tracklist brings together eleven songs sequenced as a continuous narrative, opening with “The Silver Key” and closing on “Shared Fate”.
The album will be available as a digital download and stream, as a compact disc in digipak format and as a 12″ vinyl lp. The physical editions include printed lyrics and photography, with vinyl and CD packaging using spot-UV varnish artwork.
Pre-orders are open now through the band’s official Bandcamp page, with buyers receiving “The Silver Key” immediately and the full album on 27 February 2026.

About And Also The Trees
And Also The Trees are a post-punk and alternative rock band formed in 1979 in the village of Inkberrow, Worcestershire, England, by brothers Simon Huw Jones (vocals, lyricist) and Justin Jones (guitar), together with Graham Havas (bass) and Nicholas Havas (drums).
The group learned to play as they wrote, issuing early recordings that were raw but distinctive enough to attract the attention of The Cure, who invited them to tour in 1980, 1981 and 1984. Robert Smith produced their self-released mini-album “From Under The Hill”, while Lol Tolhurst produced their first full-length “And Also The Trees”, released in 1983.
Their second album “Virus Meadow” (1986) marked a turning point, pairing dense, guitar-led arrangements with lyrics that explored pagan and pastoral themes; subsequent albums included “The Millpond Years” (1988), “Farewell To The Shade” (1989) and “Green Is The Sea” (1992). “The Klaxon” (1993), “Angelfish” (1996) and “Silver Soul” (1998) introduced a more urban, 1950s-inflected palette with twanging guitars, brass and organ figures.
After a rather calm period (and geographical dispersal), And Also The Trees returned in the 2000s with “Further From The Truth” (2003), followed by “(Listen For) The Rag And Bone Man” (2007) and the acoustic collection “When The Rains Come” (2009), which reworked songs from their back catalogue. “Hunter Not The Hunted” (2012) again shifted their sound, leading to shows in countries such as Ukraine, Romania, Lithuania and Japan and a renewed live connection with The Cure, who invited them as special guests for three nights at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2014.
Their thirteenth studio album “Born Into The Waves” (2016) centred on songs described by the band as “love songs from around the world”, after which they continued to work on self-released material through their AATT imprint including “The Bone Carver” (released 9 September 2022), followed by the documentary “Slow Pulse Boys: The Story of And Also The Trees” (2024) and the album “Mother-of-pearl Moon” (23 February 2024).
And Also The Trees were also included in “Resurgence”, a massive 7CD post-punk boxset released in January 2025 via Alfa Matrix.
The current line-up features founding brothers Simon Huw Jones (vocals) and Justin Jones (guitar), with Paul Hill (drums, since 1997), Grant Gordon (bass) and Colin Ozanne (clarinet, guitar and organ).
