Los Angeles-based dark psychedelic rock collective Tombstones In Their Eyes have dropped their new single “Under Dark Skies“, the title track of their forthcoming album to be released on December 5, 2025, via Little Cloud Records (North America) and Shore Dive Records (UK and EU).
Created during a year of personal upheaval, the record marks a turning point for frontman John Treanor, who describes the song as “a prayer sent for a path forward from the darkness of the spirit into the light.” He adds, “When the spirit is crushed, a rebirth is possible but the way forward is not always obvious. I feel fortunate to have a creative outlet like music to deal with the chaos in my head.”
Treanor further reflects on the song’s message, noting, “We live in a tough and harsh world that is also filled with beauty and joy. Finding beauty and joy is the goal. I’m aware that I have many privileges and do not discount that, but mental health challenges do not seem to discriminate. Writing these songs is one of the many ways that I cope.”
The accompanying Tombstones In Their Eyes video was directed by Francesca Bonci, the Italian multimedia artist known for her collaborations with Federale (featuring BJM’s Collin Hegna), Philip Parfitt, Peter G. Holmström of The Dandy Warhols (a.k.a. Pete International Airport), and Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell.
Recorded and engineered by Paul Roessler (Josie Cotton, Nina Hagen, Hayley and the Crushers, Gitane Demone) at Kitten Robot Studios in Los Angeles, the album was co-produced by Treanor and mastered by Alex DeYoung (Michael Jackson, BTS, Macy Gray, The Linda Lindas, TSOL) at DeYoung Masters.
“Under Dark Skies” follows the band’s 2024 release “Asylum Harbour” (via Kitten Robot Records), which included singles and videos such as “I Am Cold”, “By My Side”, “Gimme Some Pain”, “I Like to Feel Good”, and “Mirror”.
The new album will be available on digital platforms and physical formats, including CD and vinyl.
About Tombstones In Their Eyes
Formed in Los Angeles, Tombstones In Their Eyes began as a personal creative outlet for John Treanor before evolving into a full band known for its expansive psychedelic and shoegaze-infused rock sound. The group’s line-up includes Treanor, Stephen Striegel, Courtney Davies, Phil Cobb, Paul Boutin, Nic Nifoussi, and Clea Cullen.
Their music combines textured guitar layers, introspective lyrics, and hypnotic rhythms, often exploring themes of mental health and emotional transformation.
Over the past decade, Tombstones In Their Eyes has become a fixture in the American psych-rock underground, steadily releasing albums and singles through indie labels like Kitten Robot Records and now Little Cloud Records and Shore Dive Records.
