Leeds-based synthpop duo Lucky Iris have dropped their latest single “i just want to dance” via Launchpad+ in partnership with EMI North. This marks the first track from their upcoming mixtape and follows the duo’s earlier 2025 EP “day to night”. You will notice that this new single has more commercial production, but the typical Lucky Iris sound is still there of course.

Vocalist Maeve comments this on the more clubby elements: “As soon as I was old enough to even try and get into a club, all I wanted to do was go out dancing. It was my first taste of freedom… the first time, the music that got me there, and the rush of going out has always stayed with me.”

“i just want to dance” was mixed by Richard Wilkinson (Adele, Kaiser Chiefs).

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
