Polish dark folk solo project Ols has released the “bez nas” video, a new visual for the – excellent – closing track of her fifth full-length album “Poświaty”, issued on CD and digital formats on 29 May 2025 via Pagan Records. The new video for “bez nas” follows earlier clips from the album for “mów do mnie”, “światło III”, “O niej” and “proch kość liść”, forming a visual sequence around the record.

The song “bez nas” (“without us”) functions as the album’s final chapter. It handles the feelings of drifting away from love, from a former self and from childhood myths, while the outside world continues unchanged. These themes extend the record’s broader focus on the transition between childhood and adulthood, personal mythologies and the tension between connection and loss that runs through “Poświaty”.

Anna, the musician behind Ols, described the track’s emotional core by stating: “The world that once felt ‘ours’ no longer belongs to us, and someone we once loved becomes distant and unfamiliar. ‘bez nas’ works like an echo: it recalls and amplifies earlier themes without offering resolution. Instead of closure, it leaves space for melancholy and quiet pain, allowing the afterglow of this story to linger just above the surface.”

Poświaty” is an eight-track album and is available as a jewelcase CD with a 20-page booklet containing full lyrics and translations.

About Ols

Ols is a Polish solo project by musician Anna Maria Olchawa, who writes, arranges and performs all material herself, handling vocals, instruments and lyrics. The project is based in Poland and combines elements of dark folk, neofolk, alternative music and atmospheric metal, with songs built around multi-layered vocal harmonies and detailed arrangements.

Ols emerged in the mid-2010s, with the self-titled debut album “Ols” issued digitally in September 2016. That release showed her focus on polyphonic vocals, nature-oriented lyrics and a blend of acoustic and atmospheric textures. In April 2018 she released “Mszarna”. Two years later, in April 2020, “Widma” appeared, continuing the evolution toward darker, more ambient and ritual-like compositions.

In October 2022, Ols issued “Pustkowia”, her third full-length, which reviewers described as a strongly vocal-centred neofolk album that deepened the project’s interest in sparse yet carefully layered arrangements. With these records, Ols built a catalogue that dwells between acoustic neofolk, atmospheric post-black metal inflections and minimal electronics.

Her fifth album “Poświaty“, released on 29 May 2025 through Pagan Records, is a cycle about growing up, personal myths and the lingering impact of formative relationships. Musically it integrates acoustic dark folk, atmospheric metal textures and restrained electronic elements. Leading up to the album, Ols released singles such as “światło III”, “O niej” and “proch kość liść”, each accompanied by a video exploring different visual aspects of the record.
