The Spanish duo Spammerheads has been active for several years now and has released multiple albums. “The Mire Chronicles” is an album that deals with powerlessness, frustration, loss, and other emotions resulting from unexpected events, such as the floods that ravaged Valencia—an experience the duo themselves were affected by.

It’s remarkable how dramatic events can spark creativity, and in this case, result in a strong album. The work sounds powerful and is driven by aggressive, repetitive sequences. Genre-wise, it feels like a perfect cross-pollination between EBM and Dark-Electro. At times, it carries a distinctly ’90s vibe, while at other moments Industrial elements come to the fore. The vocals—and especially the drive and passion behind them—are occasionally reminiscent of Claus Larsen.

While some tracks could benefit from a bit more elaboration here and there, overall this is an interesting and commendable album that held my full attention throughout. (Rating:7½).

Valencia-based Industrial EBM duo Spammerheads return with their new album “The Mire Chronicles”, out October 16, 2025 via Banshees Records. The release – now available for pre-order on Bandcamp – captures a moment of crisis turned into creation, as the band channels the emotional aftermath of the October 2024 floods that devastated their home city.

During the floods, the duo lost part of their studio and took part in the cleanup efforts. “Those days inspired a deeply personal record filled with the emotions of shock, helplessness, fury, solidarity, and resilience,” the band says. Written as a kind of sonic diary, “The Mire Chronicles” explores how individuals and communities confront catastrophe and rebuild from it.

Featuring six tracks plus two digital bonus tracks, the album was composed, mixed, and produced by Spammerheads, mastered by Ruben Montesco, with Silicodisco mastering the digital versions. The artwork was designed by the duo, with photography by Cristina Del Barco. The release is a tribute to “the people and communities who face extreme situations and never give up.”

About Spammerheads

Spammerheads is an electronic music duo formed in Valencia, Spain, in late 2019. The project’s sound merges industrial, EBM, and punk influences with a socially grounded edge, evolving through each release in response to personal experiences and broader social contexts.

Their early work includes two cassette albums – “Espai, Temps i Materia” (HC Records, 2021) and “Bricks for Reconstruction” (Soil Records, 2021) – both offering minimalist, analog-driven production. Their third album, “Tar Blood / Cement Skin” (Soil Records, 2022), released in a limited pink vinyl edition of 300 copies, also included nods to early 1980s EBM.

Spanish electronic producer Nightcrawler has joined forces with Valencia-based EBM duo Spammerheads for the release of “Ghostless“. The new industrial-driven Nightcrawler and Spammerheads powered single is available now via Nightcrawler Music.

The track marks their first official collaboration and is Nightcrawler’s first major release since 2024.

According to the artists, “Ghostless” targets “spectacle-driven culture, hollow media figures, and the mechanisms of control that keep society passive and obedient”. The release is described as both “a protest and a purge”.

“Ghostless” was written and produced jointly by Nightcrawler and Spammerheads. Mixing and mastering were completed at NC Sound Studio. The cover artwork was created by George Gold Design.

Spammerheads, an old school EBM act from Valencia, Spain, is back with a new release on Soil Records: “Tar Blood / Cement Skin”. The EP comes in a limited edition of 300 copies in pink vinyl. The release will specifically attract all early Front 242 fans, and you can actually almost call them the Spanish Spetsnaz.

In a reaction the band says: “This is without a doubt our most personal work to date. During the previous works we have been experimenting looking for our sound and in this work we have found it. It is a raw sound, which brings us back to the sounds of the suburban factories, that were part of that scenario in which we lived when we were children. We feel very satisfied with the work because we believe that the album conveys that strange energy typical of today’s big cities, shrouded in smog, pollution air and decadence.”

Spammerheads formed as a duo (Ana Escudero and David Garrido) in 2019 and they first landed in the scene with the track “Lluvia Ácida” followed by the tapes “Bricks for Reconstruction” and “Espai, Temps i Matèria ” in 2021.
