Background/Info:  Paw Grabowski has released an endless number of productions over the past fifteen years. The Danish project appears to be a real label shopper but now strikes back to Cyclic Law unleashing an extended, single, track entitled “The Limited Circle Is Pure”.

Content: The track holds you in its grip for 30 minutes. The Ambient mood is built up from a quiet, abyssal, sound canvas which has been progressively joined by discrete, extra, sound treatments.

+ + + : øjeRum injects a kind of mysterious, relaxing, touch to the dark label roster of Cyclic Law. It however has a visual strength creating surreal images which are totally matching with the front cover of the work.

– – – : Just a single track isn’t a major problem but it rapidly starts to sound linear. I’m missing diversity.

Conclusion: øjeRum remains hard to label and hard to catch.

Background/Info: Paw Grabowski has been active as øjeRum for numerous years and has released an endless number of productions on a wide range of labels. This Danish artist is also a talented collage artist. “Reversed Cathedral” is his first work released by Cyclic Law.

Content: “Reversed Cathedral” is an opus inviting the listener to join in for an imaginary journey throughout the abyss. It’s a work to dream away and with an explicit cinematic appeal.

+ + + : The main characteristic of the work is the use of a Mannborg Harmonium. I first didn’t know what this sound was all about but it’s a very specific and mysterious sound which also has something deeply authentic. The way the album has been produced creates an overwhelming and prosper effect which in a way fits to the title of the album. It creates a visual appeal which is mainly coming through at “The Smile” and “The Gift”.

– – – : The songs become pretty similar after a while. The album also has something atypical for the Cyclic Law roster. It took me time to get into it.

Conclusion: øjeRum brings a part of dark prosperity to Cyclic Law but I can’t say this is the best label release of the year.

The limited edition of 500 copies offers a retrospective of artworks by Danish artist øjeRum (Paw Grabowski) exploring the complex relationship of humans and plants.

Background/Info: Danish composer Paw Grabowski has already been active for several years now. He has released an endless list of productions and especially the past few years seem to have been prolific years. This album is the first one he released on Cyclic Law.

Content: The album features a single cut that will take the listener away for nearly 60 minutes of joy. The composition sounds pretty cinematic and is dominated by a kind of desperate, melancholic vibrating tune. It sounds like being played with a string instrument. The tone comes constantly back while the song is progressively evolving. 

+ + + : The song has been characterized by a genius dark tone. It’s a composition with a strong visual appeal that can’t leave unmoved. There’s a kind of emotional element emerging at the surface, which reinforces the visual strength of the track. 

– – – : The track sounds a bit like a loop that is constantly repeating itself. It creates a kind of “Bolero”-effect, but the main difference is that this track doesn’t really evolve towards an absolute apotheosis. That’s precisely what this cut is missing. 

Conclusion: “Without Blood The Sun Darkens” has the potential to become a masterpiece, but is missing variety and a real, noticeable progression.
