Out on May 21st, is a brand new EP, “Feed New Hope”, by the French electronic act Nasdrowie. The EP will feature 2 tracks and a remix. One of the tracks will be premiered on Bunker Reborn radioshow this Saturday 8th May at 8PM with interview. The EP will also be presented live on Radio Rakete by Sojus 7.

The band will continue work now on another EP to be released later this Summer.

Born in the begining of 2020, Nasdrowie is a one-man operation after many years of different musical projects (Metal, Electro, Punk). A firs EP, “Protocol 1”, was released on June 2020. A 2-track release “Research/Exhale” follows on October 23rd, 2020.

The band equally got featured with the track “Contention” on our “Face The Beat 6” compilation released in December 2020.

Genre/Influences: EBM, Minimal-EBM.

Format: Digital.

Background/Info: Nasdrowie is a French project driven by Xavier Malleret. I noticed he released a few digital singles while the EP “Protocol 1” features four new songs.

Content: The main influence of this musician is not far to find; he releases a kind of minimal-EBM driven by repetitive loops and solid bass lines. There are no vocals featured, but you’ll notice spoken samplings. The work sounds like the perfect offspring between classical EBM and contemporary minimalism reminding me of bigger names such as Terence Fixmer and co.

+ + + : I like the minimalism of the compositions. The old-styled spoken samplings still have their impact, but I also enjoyed the chilling synth lines. The retro-like sound treatments –like dry, cutting snare drums and synth lines, will for sure bring some good-old memories back to life. “Carne” and “Contention” both are pretty cool songs revealing the potential of Nasdrowie.

– – – : The global production can still be improved; I’m thinking of a bit more elaboration and eventually a few vocal lines.

Conclusion: “Protocol 1” is an interesting debut from a band we better keep an eye on.

Best songs: “Carne”, “Contention”.

Rate: (7).

About Nasdrowie

Nasdrowie is the one-man electronic project of Xavier Malleret, based in Le Mans, France, according to his Discogs profile. Side-Line first covered the act with the debut EP “Protocol 1” in August 2020, then followed up with the “Feed New Hope” EP in May 2021. That 2021 headline described Nasdrowie as a Belgian act, though Discogs lists the project as French. Nasdrowie has since released the albums “Flesh World” (2021) and “Versus” (2023), plus remixes for Cyborg (2022), Faciem Abyssi (2023) and the “Militia” remix compilation (2024). “Protocol 1”, reviewed here, remains the project’s debut release.

Corona also caused some delay in our magazine household with some news getting covered under an avalanche of other news. Here’s a release which should have been in our news before, but today it finally it landed on the website.

We present you Nasdrowie, a French techno EBM act fronted by Xavier M., which has released a debut EP, “Protocol 1”, a while back. The 4 tracks on this EP stand for straight forward lush instrumental EBM in a today’s approach.
