Kim Lunner is a Norwegian musician, originally a drummer. Since 2020, he has been releasing music under his own name and has put out an impressive amount of material in just a few years. Some of his work has appeared on ScentAir Records and Town & Towers Records. He is also active as a member of the band Supercraft. The album “Neon Skies” contains eight tracks and was released at the end of last year.

The music of this Norwegian artist sounds familiar, yet at times somewhat clichéd. His work is clearly interwoven with Electro-Pop and Future-Pop influences, but it also dares to explore darker and heavier territory through touches of EBM, which are then quickly softened by Pop-oriented choruses. On another track, he walks a fine line between Future-Pop and Dance music.

For me, this release is not a standout, but it remains an enjoyable listen with a few rare highlights. I get the impression that there is more potential in this artist than what is fully expressed here. (Rating:7).

Kim Lunner, the Norwegian synth and future pop artist, has released his latest single “With You” today. The track serves as a preview of his upcoming album “Midnight Sky”, which is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025 via Town And Towers Records.

According to press materials from Town And Towers Records, “With You” highlights Lunner’s signature synth-driven sound, a style fans can expect to hear throughout “Midnight Sky.”

About Kim Lunner

Kim Lunner, born in Norway in 1977, has been active in the music scene since 2011. He debuted with his first album, released on May 20, 2020 through Russian synth label Scent Air Records. Following Russia’s invasion, Lunner transitioned to the Danish label Town And Towers Records in 2022.

In 2020, Lunner also began providing his own vocals for his songs. Over the course of his career, he has released more than 25 singles, four EPs, and five albums.

A drummer by training, Lunner is known for crafting his own drum beats and favoring compositions built around slow tempos and distinctive synth patterns. His lyrics often reflect personal experiences of loss, longing, love, frustration, and anger.

In 2023, Lunner joined the Norwegian future pop band Supercraft and co-founded the project State of Anguish alongside Egil Thoms Hansen.

The Danish record label Town And Towers Records announce the re-release of the Supercraft album “Select & Operate”. The album was originally released on CD back in 2018 and is now available on all major streaming services.

“Select & Operate” was the third album from the Norwegian Future pop act Supercraft and their first full length since “Nation47” from 2012. It took the band 5 years to complete the album. You can still buy the original CD, signed, from Supercraft’s Bandcamp site.

Supercraft was founded in 2007 by childhood friends Egil Thomas Hansen and Geir Arne Johansen. In December 2023 they were joined by Kim Lunner.

Background/Info: Two years after the debut album “This Is Me” ScentAir Records has released the second album by Norwegian artist Kim Lunner.

Content: The style and influences haven’t really changed. Kim Lunner remains driven by good-old Electro-Pop standards while there also is an explicit Future-Pop element reminding me of bands like VNV Nation and Ruined Conflict. I also noticed a very few cuts which are darker and harder featuring solid EBM bass lines.

+ + + : If you already liked the debut album you’re going to like “From Dusk To Dawn” as well. This is a diversified production mixing harder and softer cuts together. I’m more into the ‘harder’ cuts for the cool bass lines like featured at “The Reason”, the darker approach running through “Time To Run” and “Holding Hands” which is my absolute favorite one.

– – – : The sweeter side of this work can’t convince me. It sounds more average like and without surprises.

Conclusion: A fully enjoyable and varied Electro-Pop production.

Best songs: “Holding Hands”, “The Reason”, “Time To Run”.

The synthpop act Projekt Ich, signed to Echozone, is back with a new single, “Mit dir”. With this release Projekt Ich aka Ulf Müller is going to release the ninth (!) single from his forthcoming second studio album which will be released via Echozone in Spring 2022.

Following his debut album “By Train Through Countries” (2019), Ulf took a short creative break before getting back to work again. He produced several demo songs to continue the debut album’s concept of cooperating with various singers from all over the world. This time Ulf worked with Magdalena Herfurtner (ex-Eycromon) from Madil Hardis.

Background/Info: Kim Lunner is a Norwegian Electro artist who’s already been busy for more than ten years. “This Is Me” is his first album for which he got the help of Thomas Hansen (Supercraft) and Richard Bjorklund. They assisted Kim Lunner in the production of the work.

Content: “This Is Me” will appeal for all lovers of Electro/Future-Pop music. The songs are somewhere in between, switching from sweet parts to more danceable cuts. The work is supported with a dense melancholic layer.

+ + + : “This Is Me” sounds like a mature production. The songs are well-crafted and especially the more danceable cuts are worthy of examination. “Just For A Second” is a beautiful song, which progressively moves into danceable rhythms while there also is a cold, mysterious and yet sensual mood supporting the track. Another attention grabber is the instrumental “Inferno” on, which Kim Lunner reveals a Future-Pop approach. The true melancholia emerges at “Another Day” and “Alone”, which both reveal the writing skills of this artist.

– – – : “This Is Me” features 10 songs, but the last one unfortunately sounds as an antithesis to the rest of the album.

Conclusion: I can’t say that this band is setting the world alight, but “This Is Me” is a fully entertaining and accomplished production.

Best songs: “Alone”, “Another Day”, “Just For A Second”, “Inferno”.
