Out on January 20th via Mute Records is the all new EP from Laibach. The “Love is still alive” EP is a journey through our solar system to Mars after the destruction of Earth and the Moon.

The song is taken from the “Iron Sky – The Coming Race” film (2019), directed by Timo Vuorensola. The video was created by komposter in collaboration with Laibach in 2019 already.

You can watch the video for “Love Is Still Alive I (Moon, Euphoria)” right below. It is the first piece of an 8-track EP due out on CD and digitally on 20 January 2023, before Laibach embark on the 2nd part of The Coming Race tour.

(Photo by Roger op den Camp) Laibach has announced the first piece of an 8-track EP due out January 20 before the Slovenian collective embark on “The Coming Race” tour later this month. A vinyl edition will follow on March 3.

The “Love Is Still Alive” EP tracks the survivors’ journey through our solar system, and this trip is also a journey through some of the more “space” music genres of recent decades. The EP is an extension of music created for the film “Iron Sky – The Coming Race” (directed by Timo Vuorensola, 2019). Laibach’s music for “Iron Sky – The Coming Race” is (finally!) scheduled for release in 2023, alongside a specially created video game.

Here’s what the band says about the track’s concept: “This is the dawn of the third millennium of Mankind. The planet Earth, which we once knew as our home, is now nothing but a dead rock floating in space, destroyed by wars, pandemics, and all the evil that men do. So is the Moon, which once served as the stepping-stone into the vast universe, but later turned into a refuge for the last of us. Now, the remnants of mankind are hurling across the Universe on a single spacecraft, carrying the lucky few, saved from annihilation. They are heading for Mars, where all life once originated. They might have lost their history and their planet, but as long as they have a glimmer of hope and a guiding red light shining in the darkness, they will boldly go where no one has gone before – as long as love is still alive.”

With a scheduled theatrical release date for February 2018, the science fiction picture “Iron Sky The Coming Race” comes out with a brand new teaser trailer, released online today. The teaser, promoting the Scandinavian Premiere 14th February 2018 of the long-awaited sequel to the worldwide hit “Iron Sky” (2012), promises science fiction action, a peek inside the Hollow Earth – and Adolf Hitler riding a T-Rex as we already informed you a while back.

Iron Sky The Coming Race is a science fiction action film produced with the budget of 17 million €, and stars Lara Rossi (Crossing Lines), Vladimir Burlakov (Deutschland ’83), Brasilian Jiu-Jutsu champion Kit Dale, Julia Dietze (Iron Sky) with Tom Green (Charlie’s Angels, Freddy Got Fingered) and Udo Kier (Blade, Armageddon). The film continues the story of the Moon Nazis and the fate of mankind.

The plot is as follows: 25 years after the events of the first Iron Sky, the Moon Base is falling apart and full of refugees from Earth, which has been nuked to smithereens in the war between the Earth nations and Moon Nazis. The salvation of mankind is in the hands of Obi (Lara Rossi), daughter of the hero of the first movie, Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), who sets out on a journey to the Hollow Earth to find the source of eternal life, Vril-Ya.

“Iron Sky The Coming Race”, the sequel to “Iron Sky”, will most probably be filmed in Antwerp, Belgium, again directed by Timo Vuorensola. The Iron Sky producers have just arrived in Belgium to check the production facilities there, and more especially in Antwerp. The shoot is scheduled from 19th of October to 11th of December.

“Iron Sky The Coming Race” is the sequel to the 2012 cult hit film “Iron Sky” and takes place somewhat twenty years after the first film. You’ll also be introduced to some new characters (including Vladimir Putin and Jesus) but the old friends (and enemies) will still be around. This time the story will take you from the Iron Sky into the Hollow Earth filled with dinosaurs and aliens.

Kung Fury, a 2015 Swedish martial arts comedy short film written, directed by, and starring David Sandberg, is one of those short films you must have seen if your roots are in the 80s. It pays homage to 1980s martial arts and police action films but also is a tongue in cheek reference to today’s Iron Sky series where Adolf Hitler and his nazis are omnipresent. The short film is edited this way that you are like watching a VHS cassette with the necessary errors in it, all there for your viewing pleasure of course.

The film was crowdfunded through Kickstarter from December 2013 to January 2014 reaching no less than US$630,019, exceeding the original target goal of $200,000, but falling short of the feature film goal of $1 million.

The lead character Kung Fury, played by David Sandberg, is a mix of Clint Eastwood (accent, dialogue lines – including the famous punk reference – even some of the plot, it’s all there although none of the Belgian newspapers recognised it, I guess there are a bit too young) and the Karate Kid (the looks including the red scarf and the moves). It wouldn’t be a Swedish movie without some cute women: Eleni Young as Barbarianna and Helene Ahlson as Katana (voiced by Yasmina Suhonen). There’s also a cameo for David Hasselhoff dong the voice of Hoff 9000, the board computer of Kung Fury’s sports car. Film references include Dirty Harry, Back To The Future, Tron, Dragon Ball, Knight Rider, The A-team, and so on.

Also included is a soundtrack featuring the worst synthesiser lines you can imagine, typically 80s of course.

The Iron Sky team are back from Cannes Film Festival with good news: the production of Iron Sky 2 (“Iron Sky The Coming Race”) has been confirmed. That means that they will now start signing agreements for shooting locations and shift the pre-production into a higher gear.

You’ll also be introduced to some new characters (including Vladimir Putin and Jesus) but the old friends (and enemies) will still be around. The makers speak about “Iron Sky meeting Indiana Jones on a safari in Jurassic Park”. To make sure that the special effects are stunning, the Oscar winning VFX company Pixomondo will be creating the “Iron Sky The Coming Race” world.

The plot is as follows: Twenty years after the events of Iron Sky, the former Nazi Moonbase has become the last refuge of mankind. Earth was devastated by a nuclear war, but buried deep under the wasteland lies a power that could save the last of humanity – or destroy it once and for all. The truth behind the creation of mankind will be revealed when an old enemy leads our heroes on an adventure into the Hollow Earth. To save humanity they must fight the Vril, an ancient shapeshifting reptilian race and their army of dinosaurs.
