The Franco-Hispanic-Swiss post-punk trio Raskolnikov has unveiled a new single ahead of their third album’s release in autumn 2024. Following “Masterfreak” in February, Raskolnikov has now released “L’irréparable,” the second single from their forthcoming album.

The new single is based on Charles Baudelaire’s famous poem published in “Les Fleurs du Mal” (1857). The idea originated from reading “Crénom Baudelaire!” by Jean Teulé (2020), to whom the group dedicates this track. You can watch the video below.

Background/Info: About three years after their last full length masterpiece “Let’s Play (Two Girls & A Goat)” Swedish formation Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio are back on track. The title “La Fleur Du Mal” clearly is a wink to the famous poems of Charles Baudelaire.

Content: Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio moves on from where the previous works stopped. They moved on, creating a perfect twist between their Neo-Folk & Dark-Pop sound on one side and their dark, provocative & sensual poetry on the other side. The sphere is sometimes a bit hostile but always holding on to a kind of evasive feeling. Bombastic- and refined arrangements are in perfect harmony with Tomas Pettersson’s deep timbre of voice.

+ + + : The opening song “In The Name Of The Sun, My Father And The Spirit” is a new masterpiece. Dark sensuality emerging from the composition creates a true symbiosis with the poetry of the lyrics. The next cut “No Time Like The Present – La Fleur Du Mal” sounds darker and even more intimidating but also uplifting. Different feelings are emerging when listening to this music but fascination always remains. These 4 cuts are a perfect teaser to the new album.

– – – : It’s all about personal taste but to me the best cuts are right in the beginning so after having heard the outstanding opener there’s no similar climax coming up.

Conclusion: Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio is a true artistic creation in the purest sense of the word and this EP is much more than simply an appetizer for the next work.

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio release their new album “Nihilist Notes” today and now also share the new single “I remember, the perpetual Search for the Meaning in Nothing”, which follows the 4-track mini-album “La Fleur du Mal” released in March.

“Nihilist Notes (And the Perpetual Quest 4 Meaning in Nothing)” is the fourth full-length album by Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio on the German label Out Of Line to which they signed in 2010 following the demise of Swedish cult label Cold Meat Industry.

“Nihilist Notes” is released today as CD Digipak and on cassette (in red incl. a pencil), and as a deluxe wooden box set, strictly limited to 444 pieces, which, in addition to the CD, also exclusively includes the album on 10″ vinyl and 5 collector’s coins with a noble case.

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio explains the album’s concept: “In a world where the idea of hero and tyrant never has been more urgent. In a world where disinformation has become the new gospel. In times where the concept of good and evil is colored by crayons in various shades of grey. Nihilist Notes kindles the last fires of hope and takes us on a perpetual quest 4 meaning in nothing.”

“Nihilist Notes (And the Perpetual Quest 4 Meaning in Nothing)” is the 4th full length album by Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio on Out of Line to which they signed in 2010, following the demise of the Swedish cult label Cold Meat Industry. The release will be out on May 20th.

Preceded by the super limited and immediately sold-out 4 track mini album “La Fleur du Mal” in March, “Nihilist Notes” appears to move away from the more melodic aspects of the full length album “Let’s Play [Two Girls & a Goat]” from 2019 with a sound that is more martial than folk.

Genre/Influences: Cinematographic, experimental, ambient.

Background/Info: We here welcome the debut album of the Italian duo FLeUR. The band is driven by Francesco Lurgo (programming and guitar) and Enrico Dutto (programming, synths, piano).

Content: “The Space Between“ covers a wide arsenal of influences, which are mainly driven by a soundtrack/cinematographic approach, but still featuring elements reminding me of trip-hop, dream-pop and pure ambient music with some industrial sounds on top.

The work remains mainly instrumental although featuring 2 guest singers. Label owner Daniele Brusaschetto is singing on “Pinzimonio” with a kind of androgen-like timbre of voice while Costanza Bellugi is singing on “Last Contact”.

+ + + : This album is filled with multiple cuts reminding me of a sweet reverie touch. It creates this explicit cinematographic and ambient sensation, but the work touches other grounds as well. “Pinzimonio” is one of these ‘other’ cuts, which has some Björkk appeal while “Last Contact” remains ambient-like with industrial-minded sound treatments. I also have to mention the remarkable final cut, which again reveals industrial noises mixed with real subtlety and an efficient ambient sphere. The addition of vocals on both sung songs are the best cuts from the album.

– – – : I think there a few cuts with a real great potential, which hasn’t maybe really exploited. One of the most significant songs is “Cosmic Debris”. This cut is carried by great sound treatments, but not enough elaboration to become a real noticeable cut. The variety of influences is cool, but maybe not helping the band to get a real defined sound.

Conclusion: “The Space Between” is covering different grounds, experimenting with numerous genres without really belonging to one established style.

Best songs: “Pinzimonio”, “Last Contact”, “The Sky Is A Gradient”.

Genre/Influences: Dark-ambient, epic.

Background/Info: Behind Trèfle Noir is hiding French artist Alexandra Nordrac who’s also active as the singer in Liyr. She set up this solo-project to exorcise dark-ambient demons.

Content: “Villanelle Du Diable” which can be translated as “Dance Of The Devil” invites the listener to join in for a strange dark-ambient voyage. It’s not exactly the classical format of dark-ambient music, but the atmospheres are definitely devoted to this style of music.

The main difference and specificity of Trèfle Noir is the addition of vocals by Alexandra Norcdac. I even can speak about a conceptual approach as the lyrics are taken from old French poetry of the 19^th Century. The lyrics are dark and sometimes a bit tormenting, which is accentuated by a ghost-like interpretation. Other vocal parts reflect a childish timbre of voice, which reminds me of BeNe GeSSeRiT.

The sound has been reinforced by industrial components and even some tribal percussion parts. You also will notice epic arrangements injecting some drama and bombast to the work. This is the kind of atmosphere which might remind you of In Slaughter Natives.

+ + + : Trèfle Noir has accomplished a very personal adaptation of dark-ambient music. The work is carried by captivating, chilling sound waves while elaborated by many other influences. I like the heavy bombast and spooky vocals. The debut song “Fleur De Verre” is a remarkable and totally representative cut to give you an idea about this album’s potential.

– – – : I’m not that fond of the more childish timbre of voice used on some of the tracks, but the main point I regret is the absence of a booklet with the lyrics and references. Poetry is one of the most essential elements of this album so it would have been cool to get more information about it.

Conclusion: Alexandra Nordrac got inspired by the devil and accomplished a dark and bewitching opus, which I can only but recommend.

Best songs: “Fleur De Verre”, “Amour d’Hôpital”, “La Ronde Du Remords”, “Villanelle du Diable”.
