Genre/Influences: Dark-electro, industrial. vProjektContent: vProjekt quickly became a promising dark-electro act, which even caught the attention of Johan Van Roy who did some guest vocals on the song “Swarms And Hives” and he also put a song of the band on his sampler “World Wide Electronics 2”. This Australian solo-project driven by Eugene A. Nesci is now back on track unleashing surprising new work. I can’t say that there’s a radical change in the influences, but the new songs clearly reflect a different sources of inspiration. We can easily recognize EBM and dark-electro influences, but the global production becomes more complex and elaborate. The composition becomes more personal as well and I think we might speak about a band, which has created its own sound DNA. There’s a kind of sophisticated chaos running through the work, which makes me think to a hybrid of Mentallo & The Fixer plus Haujobb. There’s this kind of sound intelligence, which was not featured on the previous work. vProjekt moved to pure sound chemistry. It sometimes sounds like a sonic collage constructed by an impressive arsenal of sounds and noises. There also is a poignant atmospheric layer throughout most of the songs. That’s not totally new, but it sounds different when mixed with this new influence. vProjekt became inspired by industrial elements while holding on its dark-electronic basis. There’s a real nice twist between creative sound treatments and dense atmospheres. Another main evolution for sure consists of the production of the vocals. Eugene Nesci is no longer singing like a wounded beast, the vocals getting more passionate and produced a softer way. It’s more a kind of rock-minded timbre of voice, which sometimes reminds me of M. Manson. The least I can say is that the work became less accessible, but at the other side definitely intelligent like taking some distance with the familiar dark-electro standards. It’s not that much of a coincidence that the CD format features 4 remixes have been made by bands like Haujobb, Iszoloscope, ESA and Wychdoktor. These bands clearly are pure sound architects themselves. Conclusion: This album clearly sounds like the beginning of a new sonic era for vProjekt. This work reflects intelligence and maturity revealing an artist who tries to innovate instead of stagnating although resulting in a sound that is probably less accessible. New vProjekt album 'Wounds In The Age Of Healing' out nowA few weeks ago we reported on Australian act vProjekt who had just released the 4-track download EP “Parallel Commands”. Now we can announce the full info on the new album “Wounds In The Age Of Healing” which is available now on CD and as download. The CD first edition of “Wounds In The Age Of Healing” comes in a 4-panel digipak and features 4 remixes exclusive to this CD-version – by Haujobb, ESA, Iszoloscope and Wychdoktor – and is strictly limited to 250 units worldwide. Australian producer Eugene Nesci launched the project in 2011 with the “Exhilarate & Disgust” 15-track debut. After almost 3 years of total silence, Nesci has returned. CD and vinyl in one format? Yup, that's what happened to 'Is Apollo Still Alive?', the new single from Rave The ReqviemHere’s something really rare that turned up. For the 3rd and final single (“Is Apollo Still Alive?”) to be taken from Swedish industrial metal-step crossover act Rave The Reqviem’s self-titled debut album, DWA has taken full advantage of both the song’s length and the length of the 3 remixes presented alongside it to squeeze both 4 tracks of CD-audio and – on the first 100 copies only – to lathe-cut the title track for vinyl playback.

Yes – you read that correctly. The first 100 copies of the “Is Apollo Still Alive?” CD (available here) are in fact ‘a hybrid CD/vinyl’ – a format so rare that it doesn’t even really have a name and is only produced by one company on the planet.

Below you can see how that looks like as DWA provided us a picture of the final product.

The CD comes with a special plastic adaptor already inserted, in order to facilitate playback on a record deck. The vinyl track is lathe-cut around the outer-most part of the CD (see also the picture), with the regular CD-audio data occupying the remaining space inside creating a highly unusual and unique artefact.

“Is Apollo Still Alive?” is released on October 9th, and can be pre-ordered now. Be fast if you want to be sure of picking up one of the lathe-cut CD-vinyl hybrid disc versions.

Genre/Influences: EBM, dark body music, dark-electro. vProjektContent: vProjekt has their new album “Wounds In The Age Of Healing” in the pipeline and has released this EP as a warm-up. This release features 2 new songs plus 2 remixes of the main song “Strict Command”. This song is a rather complex, but efficient piece of EBM-minded stuff. There’s a nice chaotic touch running through this piece. The b-side song (which doesn’t sound like that) called “Parallel Galaxy” is a remarkable piece of music revealing a somewhat old-school style reminding me of Tribantura. The writing is quite elaborate while the song also moves through a remarkable progression. I also like the somewhat fragmented production of the vocals creating a nice effect. The remixes of “Strict Command” was accomplished by Haujobb and label mates Ruinizer. Haujobb reworked the original version into a pretty minimal version with some extra effects on top. This remix stands for the experimental side while Ruinizer injects a rough boost to the song to get it more clubby-like. Conclusion: “Parallel Commands” reveals 2 different and interesting new cuts plus 2 remixes with a different approach and influences. I’m really wondering what the 3rd full length of vProjekt will sound like. Best songs: “Parallel Galaxy”, “Strict Command – Ruinizer Remix”. Rate: (DP:7)DP. vProjekt launches 4-track EP 'Parallel Commands' on DWA - get it now!Released digitally today on DWA is the 4-track EP “Parallel Commands” from vProjekt based on tracks from the upcoming album “Wounds In The Age Of Healing”. Doubling as both a debut single from and companion piece to the upcoming album, this EP version of “Strict Command” offers “Strict Command”, Eugene Nesci’s own ‘re-build’ of the track “Narrow Galaxy” from “Wounds In The Age Of Healing” (a different version from the album itself), a Ruinizer remix of “Strict Command” (exclusive to this release) and a digital release for the Haujobb remix of “Strict Command” (available only on the limited edition CD version of the album). “Parallel Commands” can be found now in DWA’s Bandcamp store and of course also on Spotify, iTunes etc from today on.
