Out now via the Luminol Grammofon label is the Ryden (Strasse) single “The Ghost”. The single was produced by Kenneth Magnusson at Pekoralfabriken

Russ Ryden, real name Rustan Rydén, is a Swedish musician, composer and lyricist (born February 11, 1960) who in 1978 started the new wave group Strasse together with Kaj Zack. The song “Den hotfulla kärleken” was one of the first Strasse songs to gain some attention in 1981. With Strasse, Ryden has worked with musicians such as Midge Ure and Mike Garson. In 1985 he released the single “Rock The Night Away”.

Together with guitarist Max Abbey, as the duo Great Guns, they released the single “Walk Me Through The Storm” in 1987. In 1989, the single “Midnight Angel” was released under the pseudonym Bonowa Beat. Ryden and Abbey continued as Strasse in the 2000s with musician Charlie Storm, releasing the albums “Transylvanian Flower” in 2005 and “Half Past Animal” in 2009. In the summer of 2012, Ryden released the EP “Repercutio”, in 2017 the single “The Devil​´​s Work”, and in 2018 the album “Nightshifter”.

(Photo by Gerrold Vincent) Out now is Aurelio Voltaire’s 13th studio album, “The Black Labyrinth”. “The Black Labyrinth” features 20 tracks inspired by the 1986 film “Labyrinth”, in which David Bowie played The Goblin King. Voltaire recorded the album with 15 members of Bowie’s band from nearly every era of the Starman’s career including pianist Mike Garson, bassist Gail Ann Dorsey, drummer Sterling Campbell and guitarist Earl Slick.

Mark Plati, the producer of Bowie albums “Earthling” and “Toy,” mixed and co-produced “The Black Labyrinth” alongside Voltaire and Tom Gardner.

Also on board are members of My Chemical Romance, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Vision Video and many more. An illustrated version of “The Black Labyrinth” is slated for release in 2023, illustrated by gothic fantasy artists Abigail Larson, Iren Horrors and DreaD Art.

Aurelio Voltaire, one of the leading figures in the dark cabaret and goth genres, is known by many for his songs for the Cartoon Network show “The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy” as well as for his popular “Gothic Homemaking” youtube show.

“The Black Labyrinth,” is available today via all streaming and digital platforms along with compact disc.

Out now is Duran Duran’s newest single “More Joy” taken from their upcoming 15th studio album “Future Past” to be released on October 22 via Tape Modern for BMG. You can expect that band’s signature pop blended with a flavor of J-pop-disco-punk with collaborators Chai.

Keyboardist Nick Rhodes explains: “The song was born out of a crazy jam with Duran Duran, Graham Coxon and Erol Alkan. It was such an unusual piece we weren’t quite sure if it would fit in at first. It reminded me of one of those retro Japanese video games, which I always found quite uplifting. We came up with the chant “more joy” early on, and that became the key to the rest of the track. We all agreed that it would sound really great with Japanese female voices on it, and that’s when Simon had the inspired idea to ask Chai if they would possibly collaborate with us. To our joy they agreed, and the result most certainly brought an incredible new energy to the song.”

For the new material the band has been working with British DJ / producer Erol Alkan and Italian composer / producer Giorgio Moroder. The band has also enlisted the help of Swedish qrtist Tove Lo, Ivorian Doll, and of course Japan’s Chqi< In addition, Blur’s Graham Coxon co-wrote and lends his guitar to several tracks on the record, and David Bowie’s former pianist Mike Garson plqyed on the album closer “Falling”. The record, which was recorded across studios in London and LA over lockdown, also features long-time collaborator Mark Ronson who co-wrote and played on “Wing”, and was mixed by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent.

The limited transparent white vinyl of “Blueprint”, is the follow-up to the “A Home” album which featured the participation of pianist Mike Garson (musician for David Bowie and Smashing Pumpkins).

“Blueprint” offers electro-pop, a bit more catchy than its predecessors but still melancholic, which hints at the Smiths or movie soundtracks like John Hughes ( “The Breakfast Club”). You can also expect a cover of the classic “Time after Time” by Cyndi Lauper.
