Ukrainian duo Yurii Samson and Andrii Kozhukhar originally released this album in 2017 on Repartiseraren. The five original tracks are now being revived and reissued by Ant-Zen.

Kadaitcha explore the boundaries between genres, blending diverse influences into a distinctive Industrial and Noise expression. Dark loops, progressively accentuated vocals, percussive elements, and analog effects converge with occasional spoken word passages. Anarchic and unraveled sonic structures merge into a surprisingly accessible whole. The result culminates in a kind of free-form experiment, where a few guitar textures emerge and surprise the listener.

Personally, I find the opening tracks particularly compelling. Kadaitcha is a true sonic experience! (Rating:7).

Listen to “Bushmeat”:

Genre/Influences: Electro-Industrial, Experimental, Noise.

Format: Digital, Vinyl.

Background/Info: Kadaitcha is an Ukrainian duo driven by Yurii Samson and Andrii Kozhukhar. Their music has been introduced as exploring ‘organic aspects of Noise, Post-Industrial and archaic aesthetics – an extreme experience for another dimension.’ They previously released a few albums and this year joined hands together with Ant-Zen to unleash their newest opus.

Content: The album stands for an eclectic production moving from Electro-Industrial stuff driven by slow rhythms and ghost-like vocals to Industrial & Experimental cuts reminding me of an imaginary transposition from Psychic TV into 2023. You also will notice that some passages sound like pure improvisation creating an apocalyptic sensation and a true Noise chaos.

+ + + : Kadaitcha definitely have created an own style and approach which sounds Industrial and Experimental but still Electronic on one side and moving at the edge of Noise on the other. It sounds to me as a sound collage creating an imaginary bridge between 80s Experimental music and contemporary formats.

– – – : I’m less into the more chaotic- and Noise parts of the work.

Conclusion: Kadaitcha is an interesting and precious addition to the Ant-Zen roster; an unpredictable album but always connected with Industrial music.

Best songs: “Knife”, “Seed”, “Claw”.

Genre/Influences: Experimental, Minimal, Industrial.

Format: Digital, CD.

Background/Info: “Dolta” resulted from the collaboration between Kojoohar (member of Kadaitcha) and Ködzid Goo who seems to be an Experimental Hip-Hop project. Both artists already released an EP together in 2019.

Content: Kojoohar took care of the music and Ködzid Goo wrote the lyrics and did the vocals. “Dolta” is a hard to define album, which is driven by slow, bombastic rhythms, menacing bass lines, Industrial and icy sound treatments. The vocals –I presume sung in Ukrainian, are sometimes a bit like a storyteller. One of the tracks is featuring a guest singer.

+ + + : This project sounds more accessible than Kadaitcha, and sounds as an accessible Experimental music experience. I especially like the icy, analogue sound treatments, mainly creating the freaky atmosphere of this work. It together with the bombastic arrangements only empowers this cold atmosphere. You feel an imaginary danger while the vocals have something mysterious. So in the end I should say every single aspect accentuates another aspect, creating a vicious sonic circle resulting in a few highlights such as “Ghar” and “Kopi”.

– – – : This album is hard to catch and needs a few listenings before you eventually can get into it. It’s an accessible, but extreme experience, which can’t totally convince me.

Conclusion: Behind this composition is hiding a cold and tormented sphere, which has something surreal and intriguing.

Best songs: “Ghar”, “Kopi”, “Sulema”.

Rate: (7).

Genre/Influences: Experimental, electro-acoustique.

Format: Digital, Cassette.

Background/Info: Kadaitcha is a Ukrainian duo, which has now been active since 2015. The duo claims to ‘explore organic aspects of the noise, post-industrial and archaic aesthetics’. They released a few productions so far while “Tar” was originally released last year (digital and still on cassette format) and now re-released by Ant-Zen.

Content: “Tar” is a universe of noises and sonic manipulations. You’ll notice guitar riffs, which together with different noise sources create an apocalyptic vision. You now and then will notice spoken- and ghost-like vocals. The tracklist is quite diversified and Kadaitcha never lose themselves into a pure noise experience. They experiment with other influences instead, resulting in a track with a kind of didgeridoo sound. It injects a mysterious touch to the work.

+ + + : Kadaitcha is an original project in a music genre, which is hard to define and followed by a rather restricted number of artists. That’s precisely what makes the strength of this album. But I also like the diversity of the tracklist. They indeed explore different aspects of noise, but still take care to add some extra elements like slow rhythms, vocals (now spoken and then more theatrical-like) and ambient sound sculptures. “Eclipse” is one of the most unusual tracks from the work, but still a truly attention grabber for its mystifying sound approach created by a didgeridoo-sounding noise.

– – – : Kadaitcha remains an extreme experience, which will mainly appeal for noise- and experimental lovers.

Conclusion: “Tar” is a somewhat abstract sonic universe conceived by Ukrainian experimentalists. It sounds like music from another dimension or who knows the sound of the future…

Best songs: “Eclipse”, “Ran”, “Yatagarasu”.

Rate: (6½).
