Fernando’s Eyes releases the single “Room On Fire” on 25 September via Aenaos Records, the project‘s first new material since last year’s album “Center Of Your World” and its accompanying “Bonus Tracks & Remixes”. Fernando’s Eyes is the solo project of Fernando Honorato, singer and co-founder of Stockholm post-punk band Principe Valiente. “Room On Fire” moves with more directness than the atmospheric material on “Center Of Your World”: Honorato produced the track himself, with co-production and mix by Hans Olsson, layering programmed drums against live toms he played personally. A saxophone part by Swedish jazz musician Lina Langendorf cuts through the arrangement without turning ornamental.

Honorato describes “Room On Fire” as a song about leaving without looking back, a deliberate choice rather than a loss, with the production’s forward momentum matching that resolve.

“Center Of Your World” is the debut album by Swedish musician Fernando Honorato, better known as Fernando’s Eyes. While his name might not immediately ring a bell, many will recognize him as the frontman of Principe Valiente.

After releasing a few singles, Fernando now steps forward with his solo debut, issued by Aenaos Records and Icy Cold Records. The result is a truly accomplished work, showcasing his distinctive and brilliant voice—often reminiscent of David Bowie—and offering plenty to admire musically. The influences draw heavily from the ’80s, with occasional echoes of Bauhaus and Joy Division, reimagined here into a dark, dreamy, and at times orchestral, Cinematic, experience. The interplay between guitar and synth lines is particularly striking, creating an emotional and uplifting effect. As the album progresses, it gains even more depth, with the second half delivering several standout moments. It all concludes with a surprising cover of Madonna’s “Live To Tell”, which retains the original’s 80s pop sensibility.

I was already captivated by Principe Valiente, but this debut from their frontman stands as an equally exceptional production—one I highly recommend. (Rating:8½).

Fernando’s Eyes is the solo project of Swedish musician Fernando Honorato, best known as the singer of Principe Valiente, the dark-pop duo he formed with guitarist Jimmy Ottosson. Principe Valiente released a self-titled debut album in 2011, followed by “Oceans” in 2017 and “Barricades” in 2022, the band’s first album for Metropolis Records, with “In This Light” following in 2024.
