Background/Info: Lucas Ezequiel Luna is an Argentine producer active since 2009. This “Metal Knight”-EP might be an opportunity to discover this artist.

Content: “Metal Knight” is a phenomenal track, which appears to be a sonic hybrid between techno- and electronic body music. It also has something industrial-like, but the bass line will for sure appeal to true EBM-lovers.

We next get remixes by Ethan Fawkes, Son Of Chaos, Raul Parra and Grand Chaos. All the remixes inject a different touch to the song, but I especially want to mention the hard-EBM driven remix of Spanish producer Raul Parra.

+ + + : The title song left me breathless; this is the ultimate symbiosis between techno and EBM. The bass line is sensational, but there also is a hard industrial sound treatments, which will drive you mad. The remixes are great, but especially the one by Raul Parra.

– – – : This is the kind of EP that left me a bit frustrated because I want to hear more songs from Azlack.

Conclusion: There are artists you simply have to discover otherwise you just will have missed something essential! Azlack is pure sonic ecstasy!

Genre/Influences: Dark-technoid, d’n’b, EBM.

Background/Info: “Your Insanity” resulted from the common efforts between Belgian techno-body producer Ethan Fawkes, French singer of The Chemical Sweet Kid aka Julien Kidam and Dreadfool (Dreadfool is an ex-member of Anamorphosis and now singer of Nihiliste). This EP has been released on a small Belgian Netlabel and features the title song plus 4 remixes.

Content: The title song sounds like the perfect offspring between the technoid sound and EBM driven sound of Ethan Fawkes at one side plus the typical vocals of Julien Kidam at the other side. The song has been sung in English and French language (by Dreadfool) accentuating the schizophrenic aspect of “Your Insanity”.

Just like all Ethan Fawkes releases the remixes have been accomplished by less familiar names like For Greater Good, Iñaki Kreator, Azlack and Owen The Saint. The remixes cover the main ingredients of the original version while each artist is adding his own touch and input. This is an opportunity to rediscover “Your Insanity” in a guitar driven version or more into EBM and even into d’n’b influences.

+ + + : Ethan Fawkes clearly likes to work with other artists and each time again he’ll take me by surprise. I didn’t really expect to see him compose a song with Julien Kidam, but the least I can say is that it sounds like an interesting challenge. This song makes sense while I especially want to recommend the EBM remix of the Argentine EBM-project Azlack and the technoid remix of Iñaki Kreator with some extra powerful guitar riffs on top. It totally matches with the harsh vocal parts.

– – – : Ethan Fawkes clearly prefers releasing EP’s around one title song with remixes instead of achieving a new full length album. I think it would be interesting to hear more songs (like on an album) on one and the same release instead of tons of remixes, but that’s just a personal point of view.

Conclusion: “Your Insanity” is a rather unexpected release for the fusion between different artists who aren’t really dealing with the same kind of music, but when ‘music’ remains the same denominator everything is possible and magic might occur.

Best songs: “Your Insanity”, “Your Insanity – Iñaki Kreator Remix”, “Your Insanity – Azlack Remix”.

Genre/Influences: Minimal-electronics, EBM.

Background/Info: Tcheleskov Ivanovitch is now already active under the Grandchaos moniker for more than 10 years. Based in Belgium this artist is a kind of electro-veteran who was the founder of Ivanovitch DLO while he now also set up a new project together with Jacky Meurisse (SA42) called Grand O Chaos.

This work was originally released as 2 separate 12” vinyls entitled “Days” and “Memories” released on Urgence Disk Records. The main song “Memories Is A Poison” was originally released on the last album “We Suffer When The World Changes” (2014).

This CD format is strictly limited to 100 copies!

Content: We get a total of 8 songs (4 on each 12”), which have been remixed by an interesting selection of artists. The “Days”-EP is more into minimal-electronics and EBM featuring remixes from 2XNI, Franck Kartell, Nomenklatür and Azlack.

The “Memories”-EP sounds a bit different and more experimental, but still technoid-like. We here get remixes by Noamm, Artion, Simon Carter and 14 Anger. Simon Carter and 14Anger transformed the original version into a hard-kicking techno vibe.

+ + + : The remixes from the “Days”-EP are simply devastating. The analogue sound sculptures from Franck Kartell and especially Nomenklatür left me breathless. This is great electro music made of power and magic of sound creation! No presets here, but amazing and overwhelming sound treatments leading the listener into frenetic dance moves. The remix of Azlack reminds me of Nitzer Ebb’s “Murderous”.

– – – : The experimental- and techno-driven side of this work is less convincing. It brings for sure extra diversity to the work, but it feels a bit ‘unnatural’ as it’s far away from the original Grandchaos sound.

Conclusion: This EP features a great diversity in the remixes, but the most EBM-driven ones are absolutely amazing. This is the modern sound of EBM that will for sure make you ‘move your body’!
