Background/Info: While I already heard some collaborative work from Yurugu’s Speech together with Bismuth, the Italian label Dark Mechanism releases another, but similar work. Yurugu’s Speech joined hands together with III’s Ohm for a live concert that took place on the 10^th of August 2019.

Content: The recording is a live performance from nearly one hour. It’s pure improvisation, but you clearly notice the progression in the long duration single track from this performance. It sounds definitely soundscape-like, but you’ll discover ritual elements right at the beginning. After 15 minutes, the jamming session is progressively evolving towards heavier, low resonating, buzzing soundwaves. It moves crescendo to an approximate climax.

+ + + : I’m not a huge fan of improvisation, but I’ve to admit both projects created a fascinating sound experience revealing subtle noises and especially the ghost-like voices emerging after 20 minutes inject a real extra to the work. It creates a hostile atmosphere leading the listener into an imaginary paranoid world.

– – – : This work is however not the most accessible production because of the improvised format. There’s no structure and no rules!

Conclusion: If you like dark experiments related to soundscapes and ambient music, this live take could be an interesting discovery.
