Background/Info: RecFrag is a Belarusian solo-project driven by Dmitry Nikolaenko. He previously released a digital debut-album “Burning Rime” (2015) on Solanic plus a few digital EP’s. The project is now signed to Aliens Production, which will hopefully give more exposure to this interesting project.

Content: “Recovered Fragments” definitely features some of the familiar ingredients you can directly hear when listening to Aliens Production-releases. There’s a similar taste of electro-minimalism inspired by different genres like IDM, electro-ambient, d’n’b and cinematographic passages.

This is a sound that gives you the impression tht it is directly coming from a sonic laboratory. You can feel a true love for sound creation and manipulation, and also wafting sound waves and different little bleeps, which are like hidden in the background.

The final part of the work features remixes by Xsodect, TOD, Tokee and Ish.

+ + + : RecFrag is a project that will appeal to lovers of ultra sophisticated and complex sound creation. You get the impression that the creation of sounds and noises is often more important than harmony. This album needs several listenings before you can really seize the complexity of the sound sculptures. Just play it loud, close your eyes and listen or use headphones. It’s really important to create the right circumstances to discover this work. You’ll be surprised by the interaction between wafting sound passages and electro-industrial treatments. You’ll also notice the broken beats and hard sound blasts intermixed with discrete, but essential bleeping noises.

– – – : “Recovered Fragments” is what I should call a ‘difficult’ album. You have to be patient and give it several tries before seizing the real impact of the work. It however remains a complex and a less accessible work for its mainly experimental creation. I expected a bit more from the remixes.

Conclusion: RecFrag got signed to the right label to release its music. “Recovered Fragments” is a progressive electronic production dealing with intelligence and sound passion.

Best songs: “Magnetic Spheres”, “12-41 (Recovered)”, Mercury Arrows”.

Background/Info: Peter Rybar commonly known as ‘Ryby’ not only is involved into great electronic bands like Disharmony and Oxyd, but he also runs Aliens Productions. The label based in the Czech Republic has often familiarized us with the most intelligent and sophisticated forms of electronic music. It has often been a pleasure to discover new and talented bands dealing with genres like IDM, down-tempo electronics, experimental electronics and related genres. This new sampler reveals 16 bands dealing with progressive electronic music. The first 50 copies feature an extra CDR with 4 bonus songs, which are also available in the digital format.

Bands: Disharmony, Headdreamer, Stendeck, Polygon, Seneptika, The Opposer Divine, Conjecture, Xsodect, LPF12 ao.

Content: “Hypotaxia” mainly features bands from the label roster, but the common element between all selected bands for sure appears to be their fine and intelligent taste for progressive electronic compositions. It always sounds a bit in the experimental fields, but rapidly moves into more accessible formats like IDM, ambient-electro and intelligent exposures of EBM.

The sampler is characterized by genius artists in search of unique sound treatments. That brings a few tracks on the edge of experimentalism and glitch, but it all remains accessible and just fascinating. From dreamy ambient passages towards icy sequences to broken rhythms and a few bands dealing with vocals on top “Hypotaxia” stands for electronic modernism.

+ + + : There’s a nice twist between different sources of inspiration, but first of all an impressive number of great songs. Label bands Polygon and Seneptika will definitely go for the award of ‘best band’, but I also have to mention the bombast and refinement of Disharmony and the subtle approach of ISH. One of the most promising bands and for me a real discovery is Zetatech while I’ll also keep an eye on 3,14.

– – – : You definitely have to be into this kind of music and get familiar with the label, but on the other side it also is an opportunity to discover a great label and some genius bands. Aliens Productions is a label deserving much more recognition!

Conclusion: I can’t remember to have been ever disappointed by an Aliens Productions release. “Hypotaxia” only confirms the fine taste of this label!

Best bands: Polygon, Seneptika, Disharmony, ISH, LPF12, Conjecture, Zetatech.

Welcome to St. Petersburg to discover the intelligent electro vibes composed by Xsodect.

This EP features 5 interesting cuts based upon a real passion of sound creation. “Electric Waste” is not exactly the kind of release that has been accomplished in a hurry. It makes me think of a real patient process of collecting and reworking sounds to obtain a unique sound treatment. The songs have been crafted with intelligence mixing elements of IDM, industrial and experimental music plus a few elements of pure experimentalism and glitch. All together it creates a real compact and fascinating sonic voyage on, which you will be quite impressed by these meticulous treats.

“Electric Waste” brings a real arsenal of sound to life. From deep sounding blasts to whipping snares, to delicate bleeps, to pure glitch, this work has a lot to offer. The writing features many little details, and the way all these sounds have been merged together results in brilliant composition. I can’t really throw any single song away although I have a preference for the impressive treatments of “Disease” and the somewhat mysterious sounding “Downshift”.

Conclusion: Some bands deal with music, which gives you the impression to awake in another galaxy. “Electric Waste” is the kind of music planet I want to join as soon as possible.

Best songs: “Disease”, “Downshift”, “Electric Waste”, “Terminal”.
