While Daemonia Nymphe work on their forthcoming album, they take a short break to announce the 2nd EP for their ‘Witches’ Lullaby’ experimental project: “Witches’ Lullaby: Whispers from the North, South and East”.

This project builds on the special EP “Witches’ Lullaby” released in 2021. In that EP, Daemonia Nymphe collaborated with vocal artists Hatis Noit (Japan), Priscilla Hernandez (Spain), Victoria Couper (UK/Portugal), and Rey Yusuf (UK/Turkey). Together, they crafted a soundscape inspired by the melody of the song bearing the same name, originally composed for the soundtrack of the play Macbeth (produced in 2016 for the National Theatre of Northern Greece).

For this new EP they join forces with German vocalist Joran Elane, Palestinian artist Enas-Al-Said, British singer India Blue, British/Portuguese performer Victoria Couper, and British/Turkish artist Reyhan Yusuf. Adding further richness, Evi Stergiou of Daemonia Nymphe (Greece), Louisa John Krol (Australia), and Stevie Toddler (England) also lend their voices.

The new EP will be released on the 27th of December 2024 on all digital platforms including Bandcamp. Check the first EP with four lullabies based on the original composition.

About Daemonia Nymphe

Daemonia Nymphe, founded in 1994 by Spyros Giasafakis and Evi Stergiou in Athens, Greece, creates and performs music deeply rooted in ancient Greek traditions. The ensemble stands out as the first to compose and improvise using reproductions of ancient Greek instruments crafted by master artisan Nikolaos Brass. Their instrumentation features the lyre, varvitos, krotala, pandoura, and double flute, bringing the sounds of antiquity to life.

Drawing from Orphic and Homeric hymns and the poetry of Sappho, their lyrical content invokes deities like Zeus and Hekate, enriching their music with mythological depth.

Over the years, Daemonia Nymphe has released a series of albums, including their self-titled debut in 2002, “Krataia Asterope” in 2007, “Psychostasia” in 2013, and “Macbeth” in 2016.

In addition to their studio work, they have composed music for documentaries, such as “Treasures of Athens and Olympia” for Channel Five in London. They have also collaborated with renowned international artists, including Peter Ulrich (formerly of Dead Can Dance), Psarantonis, and Dimitra Galani, further solidifying their global influence.
