Unit:187 emerged in 1994, carving a niche in the Industrial music scene. Over the past 30 years, the band has faced significant milestones and challenges, the most devastating being the death of founding member Tod Law in 2015. This tragic loss deeply impacted the band, delaying their return to the spotlight. The latest album, “KillCure”, is a testament to resilience and creativity. Featuring 8 tracks, some of which were in progress at the time of Law’s passing, these songs were completed with care and dedication. In addition, new material was crafted by Johnny Morgan, Chris Peterson (Decree, FLA), Ross Redhead (Decree), Kerry Vink-Peterson (Stiff Valentine). The album showcases hard-hitting Industrial soundscapes where roaring guitars evoke the distinct Canadian/American Industrial aesthetic. Raw, abrasive Electronic arrangements heighten the album’s unsettling yet captivating atmosphere. The male vocals are intense and possessed, at times heavily processed with effects, while female vocals appear sporadically to add contrast and depth. Ranging from Industrial to Punk and hard Electro, “KillCure” delivers 8 powerful tracks that explode with energy, especially in their choruses. The album is a fiery, triumphant return for Unit:187, reaffirming their place in the Industrial music scene with a bang. (Rating:8).

Out now via Metropolis Records is the brand new Unit:187 album “KillCure”. “KillCure” is the band’s fifth studio album and features contributions from John Morgan, Chris Peterson, Kerry Vink-Peterson, and includes collaborations with Stuart McGinley, Justin Hagberg, Galen Waling, Adam Lastiwka, and Ken ‘HiWatt’ Marshall.

About Unit:187

Unit:187, a Canadian industrial band, was founded in 1994 by John Morgan and Tod Law in Vancouver, British Columbia. Influenced by the local industrial scene, including acts like Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy, they released their self-titled debut album in 1995 under 21st Circuitry Records.

In 1997, they released the EP “Stillborn,” followed by their second album, “Loaded,” in 1998. Produced by Devin Townsend, “Loaded” featured new members Jed Simon (guitar) and Byron Stroud (bass) from Strapping Young Lad.

After 21st Circuitry Records collapsed in 1999, Unit:187 signed with COP International, releasing their third album, “Capital Punishment,” in 2001. This album showcased the electronic programming and production skills of Chris Peterson (live member of Front Line Assembly) and mixer Anthony Valcic (producer for both Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly).

In 2010, the band released “Out for Blood,” their fourth studio album, with Chris Peterson becoming a permanent member and guitarist Ross Redhead (Decree) also joining. This was followed by the remix album “Transfusion” in 2012, featuring remixes from bands including Stiff Valentine, 16Volt, Mindless Faith, and iVardensphere.

Tragically, co-founder and vocalist Tod Law passed away on June 22, 2015, due to leukemia. After taking time to process the loss, Unit:187 honored his legacy by finishing the songs they had written with Tod before his death, as well as creating new music. The band was now fronted by former backing singer Kerry Vink-Peterson.
