The brand new Symbion Project album “Arcadian” is out now. This is the 8th studio album by Symbion Project, a Seattle-based electronic-music project by Kasson Crooker. The album features a variety of singers and instrumental collaborations. The album is available widely, as well as via Bandcamp or via the band’s website.

In addition to vocals from Kasson himself, the album features guest vocals from Seattle composer/sound artist Briana Marela (Amiina, múm collaborator signed to Jagjaguwar), Seattle’s Jenni Potts (most recently heard on Odesza’s “White Lies”), Finnish singer Markus Junnikkala (from the band MY), and long-time collaborator Melissa R Kaplan (Splashdown). The album features a handful of additional instrumentalists as well, with classical guitar and french horns adding depth to the layered electronic arrangements.

Along with founding several bands including synthpop legends Freezepop and Rocococo in addition to Symbion Project, Kasson is a composer and audio technologist. His music has been featured in interactive music games like Amplitude and RockBand, he’s created spatial audio experiences for the Microsoft HoloLens, and is currently scoring the indie-game Shard.

Symbion Project recently toured the west coast with Brooklyn producer Kodomo, and will be touring this fall in support of “Arcadian”. Symbion Project has also just released a video for the song “The Charmed (feat. Jenni Potts)”. The video was directed by Autolux / DrabMajesty director Thomas McMahan. The video can be viewed below.

Rather good news comes from the Speed of Dark Music label. Symbion Project premiers a brand new song from the upcoming album “Arcadian”, the 8th album from the project so far. “Stainless Endless Radiance” features the vocals of Briana Marela (collaborator with Amiina/múm) and that is a true delight for the ear we must say.

The Symbion Project album “Arcadian” will be a collection of bittersweet indie-electronic songs featuring a variety of vocalists. Due out September 9th through Speed of Dark Music you can expect such guest vocalists as Jenni Potts, Markus Junnikkala (MY) and Briana Marela who is featured on the new single “Stainless Endless Radiance”.

Symbion Project is embarking on their first mini-tour of the US in support of the dark, IDM/downtempo album “Semiotic” and song featured in the PS3/4 videogame “Amplitude”. Dates and cities include Seattle on 4/13, Minneapolis on 5/4, Milwaukee on 5/5, Boston on 5/14 with Freezepop, Cleveland on 5/27 with Todd Sines & Mike Textbeak, and Chicago on 6/3.

The Seattle, WA based Symbion Project was created in 1991 by Kasson Crooker who you will probably know from his other projects Freezepop, Splashdown or Larkspur. The “Semiotic” album was released in July 2015, and you can stream it below. It’s the band’s 6th album to date and is an audio/visual collaboration with Kevin McGinnis.

Out now via Speed of Dark Music is the debut from the Seattle based synthpop / electropop act Rocococo titled “Versailles”. And that title is not a coincidence nor is the name of the band when you see the promotional pictures of the band and the cover artwork of their debut. The band literally breathes the Versaille way of life! The debut is available now from Bandcamp on CD and as HQ audio download.

Says the band: “The music is quite dance-oriented with a dash of lo-fi 8bit drums, a slather of oscillating waveforms, an ornate orgy of contrapuntal motifs, a veritable “gigue-byte” of Gameboys if you will! Oh, and you will. Rocococo performs in full Rococo attire… come see our shows!”

The Rocococo is the project by – and we keep the Versailles spirit – Duchess Jeanne Antonique D’esprit de L’escalier (aka Denise Ng), Electresses of “Prophet Douze” and Guy de Comté-Moog Fontainebleau (aka Kasson Crooker), aka The Dauphin, Drinker/Ruler of the House of Bourbon on the “Ill- Tempered Synthesizer.” Musically the band incorporated lots of baroque elements in its 8-bit styled synthpop generated by Gameboy & synthetic instruments, thus staying faithful to the concept of the band, as you can hear below.

Kasson Crooker is no unknown name to many of our readers as he is also included in Freezepop and Symbion Project.

Symbion Project, signed to the Seattle WA based boutique electronic label Speed of Dark Music, have landed 3 songs in the upcoming PS3/PS4 videogame AmplitudeHD which will be released in early January.

The songs included are “Concept” of the recent “Semiotic” album released this past June, “Synthesized” which is a brand-new updated mix from the original Amplitude game, and “Do Not Retreat” by the alter-ego band Komputer Kontroller.

Amplitude is a reboot of the controller-based rhythm action game developed by Harmonix and originally released in 2003. Planned for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Harmonix is updating this cult classic title for modern game consoles with higher-fidelity visuals, new music, and more.

The new Amplitude will be available in 2016.
