Background/Info: Spreader is a Portuguese duo driven by Pedro Hébil and Tiago Lopes. “351” is the band’s debut album featuring eleven songs.

Content: This work smells like good-old memories from the 80s. The songs indeed are driven by electronics and guitar connected to Cold-Wave. Some parts are carried by solid kicks getting it all danceable and even transcendental while the guitar playing is sometimes becoming very hypnotic as well. .

+ + + : Interesting debut by this duo which is clearly inspired by good-old 80s productions which is an aspect of their work you might notice in the production of the vocals but also the guitar play. I like the fuzzy, hypnotic, guitar play but also some passages for their uplifting sensation and even an EBM touch on top of “Formas Dos C​é​us”.

– – – : The mixing and global production is missing a professional touch but at the other side it also creates -or empowers, the 80s feeling.

Conclusion: Interesting debut album which might serve as a solid basis to move on with.

Best songs: “Formas Dos C​é​us”, “PIM”, “Liberdade”.

Spreader is a Portuguese duo of Pedro Hébil, on guitar and vocals, and Tiago Lopes, on guitar and programming. “351” is the project’s debut album, recorded, mixed and mastered by Tiago Lopes at Brick Wall studio in Encarnação, Mafra, between November 2021 and September 2023, and produced by Tiago Lopes and Pedro Hébil.

“351” was released on 30 September 2023 through Anti-Demos-Cracia as a limited CD-Digisleeve with booklet, restricted to 120 numbered copies, alongside the digital edition.
