Background/Info: Spreader is a Portuguese duo driven by Pedro Hébil and Tiago Lopes. “351” is the band’s debut album featuring eleven songs.

Content: This work smells like good-old memories from the 80s. The songs indeed are driven by electronics and guitar connected to Cold-Wave. Some parts are carried by solid kicks getting it all danceable and even transcendental while the guitar playing is sometimes becoming very hypnotic as well. .

+ + + : Interesting debut by this duo which is clearly inspired by good-old 80s productions which is an aspect of their work you might notice in the production of the vocals but also the guitar play. I like the fuzzy, hypnotic, guitar play but also some passages for their uplifting sensation and even an EBM touch on top of “Formas Dos C​é​us”.

– – – : The mixing and global production is missing a professional touch but at the other side it also creates -or empowers, the 80s feeling.

Conclusion: Interesting debut album which might serve as a solid basis to move on with.
