Background/Info: Sixteen years after the debut album “Akrasia” (still released by Cyclic Law) Swedish solo-project Sinke Dûs -aka Marcus Lönebrink, strikes back with an unexpected new work. The work is meant as an introspective travel and features eight tracks.

Content: “Modus Vicendi” in a way let us rediscover this forgotten project but from the very first cut you immediately will notice the pure Dark-Ambient approach accentuated by icy sound treatments, hostile atmospheres moving into obscurity. You’ll also notice passages featuring field recordings. “Modus Vicendi” also reveals a very few evasive parts featuring icy strings.

+ + + : The global atmosphere recovering this work is extremely cold -not to say frozen, and characterized by impressive sound waves. It instantly creates a strong visual appeal leading to facing hidden demons. It feels like traveling throughout hell. I recommend listening to the album by using headphones to better realize the post-apocalyptic sensation.

– – – : The biggest challenge for this project is to get back its place on the map of Dark-ambient music but this album has enough potential to seduce fans of this genre.

Conclusion: This album sounds as a great come-back for a project we clearly have forgotten.

Sinke Dûs is the solo project of Swedish musician Marcus Lönebrink. The project’s debut album, “Akrasia”, was released via Cyclic Law in 2007. “Modus Vivendi” is Sinke Dûs’s second album, arriving sixteen years later on the same label, with artwork by Viktor Kvant and a collaboration track featuring Pär Boström of Kammarheit. The album is released in an edition of 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak, holding seven tracks.
