Genre/Influences: Industrial, Experimental, Ambient.

Format: Digital, Vinyl.

Background/Info: French artist Pascal Le Gall strikes back with his third work released on Warm Records. “Dreams” features two songs that have been mastered by Norscq.

Content: The sound universe of this artist is mixing different influences, but it mainly appears to be an experimental work. Both tracks have been progressively built up; long pieces moving in between different genres. From Industrial noises to guitar manipulations and different electro effects plus eventually field recordings, this work sounds as a sonic puzzle. The B-side track sounds even more experimental.

+ + + : When you get two tracks each going over the 15 minutes and featuring a true sonic puzzle, you always will find some exciting passages. I have a preference for the more Industrial-like parts, which have been boosted by slow, but heavy percussion. The opening song “Day” is for sure my favorite one and especially the opening part is quite overwhelming. The final part of both tracks is great, like leading towards a climax.

– – – : The experimental approach is sometimes missing cohesion, like a sound alchemist starting to improvise with a canvas of sounds and noises.

Conclusion: Pascall Le Gall invites the listener to dive into an imaginary, Experimental sonic labyrinth.

Best songs: “Day”.

Rate: (6½).

Label: www.warm-ed.fr
