Background/Info: French artist Thomas Pujols is now active for numerous years under the Nebulo moniker. He gained some recognition releasing his debut works on Hymen Records. He went on releasing his productions on different labels and unleashed his newest opus on Le Cabanon Records.

Content: The sound universe of “Parallaxes” remains an Experimental approach wherein the artist is decomposing and recomposing sounds and noises. The tracks have something fragmented, sometimes creating the effect of a vinyl, which is jumping on the turntable. But behind this Experimental approach also hides a more ‘classical’ Soundtrack approach, which makes it more accessible.

+ + + : This is the kind of production, which would perfectly fit to a very special visual content. Nebulo has never been a ‘classical’ project and remains in search of new paths. Call it weird or simply avant-garde, this work will absolutely move you. I like the fusion between totally Experimental effects and a rather classical Soundtrack style. But I prefer some heavier sound sculptures, which can be heard at different passages.

– – – : The fragmented and totally Abstract way of working still has something irritating. It’s not the kind of record that is accessible for a wider audience.

Conclusion: “Parallaxes” sounds as an explicit exposure of what Experimental music can be!

About Nebulo

Nebulo is French composer and producer Thomas Pujols. Per Le Cabanon Records’ own Bandcamp credits, “Parallaxes” follows two duo releases on the label, “Crypto Tropic” and “Othello Aubern,” and forms the second instalment of the label’s “Albe” series. The album was written largely in spring 2018 and is described by the label as a prequel to the 2019 EP “Ascii Snake” (Conditional) and a consequence of 2016’s “Zellige” (Phinery). Mastering and cutting were handled by Mathieu Berthet at MB Mastering, France, with the bonus track mastered by Nebulo himself.

Discogs lists further Nebulo releases including “Urbatectures” (2011), “Cardiac” (2012) and the self-released “Sketches & Outtakes” EP (2013). No prior Side-Line coverage of Nebulo has been found.
