Background/Info: Mr. Strange is an English formation from the South coast. They’ve already released 3 previous albums and I hope this new opus will bring them a bit more recognition.

Content: From start on the band clearly reveals that it is composing a kind of electro-rock music. There’s a nice twist between empowering guitar parts and great electronic manipulations. The songs sound a bit pop-like and yet pretty rock as well. They sometimes make me think to a fusion between Deviant UK and Marilyn Manson, which is a real cool sensation I experienced on several songs.

The vocals are quite alluring and even charismatic. There’s a real feeling of passion emerging from the songs while a few cuts that feature female backing vocals add a fragile and sexy touch.

+ + + : I especially was impressed by the diversity of the work. There are many influences running through the songs, but the main style remains electro-rock & pop music. I also have to say a word for the great booklet of this album.

– – – : Despite of many cool songs and potential hits, the album is maybe missing an absolute hit!

Conclusion: Mr. Strange sounds original and driven by this particular British touch, which makes them sound different from the rest of planet pop & rock.

Best songs: “Fag”, “Disco Bitch”, Do It Like Pete Burns”, “I Like Girls & Boys”, “Deviant Ritual”.

Rate: (8).
