Background/Info: Love + Revenge is the meeting between two experienced German artists. Rascal Hueppe (Rotersand) and Axel Ermes (Cassandra Complex, Girls Under Glass ao) joined hands together and unleashed their debut-EP featuring four songs.

Content: The title song opening the EP sounds as a mature and pure Electro/Wave-pop song. Rascal’s vocals are for sure reminding me of Rotersand, but this project clearly sounds different. The other songs left are not as danceable, but mixing different elements wherein the artists are still getting back to 80s influences. The guitar sounds featured on the dreamy “Talking Silence” sound pretty 80s-driven. 

+ + + : This debut-EP already got a very positive response in Germany. The title song is a cool piece of Electronics. It sounds danceable, but also well-crafted and with Rascal’s charismatic vocals on top. The EP features 4 different songs (not one single remix here!), which gives us a better idea about the band’s potential. I think the songs are perfectly summarizing the different bands both artists have been involved with. It’s somewhere linked with early Future-Pop while connected with good-old 80s-wave music. It’s not pure Electro-Pop and yet hard to label as a different genre.

– – – : Next to the great title song, the other songs left sound a bit as B-side cuts. It means that the true climax is right at the beginning.

Conclusion: “Angel” is a promising debut for Love + Revenge and I can only hope this duo will move on achieving a full length opus.
